Nice score, nice price! If going original all you need now is a rear fender and a little spit and polish! Very nice. I'm jealous....
Another one bites the dust.

What do you mean Ed? Don't approve of removing fenders and repainting the nice blue factory paint? I'm sworn to keep my lips zippered on the subject.:S

Yup. Too bad, really, unless there were areas of the paint that were in very poor shape. On the flip side, it makes those remaining originals worth just a bit more.
To be honest, he would have had a very hard time getting side covers in as good of original condition as the rest of the bike appeared to be.

YEAH!!!found some in black though that i can match the paint with.
Thanks for the words of encouragement....Another one bites the dust.
THE PAINT WAS NOT REPAIRABLE, and it sure as hell wasnt nice! FACT, some 31 year old paint does not stay perfect! the bike sat outside under a cedar tree for years! im sure you if you would have seen the shape the paint was in you probably would have painted it as well.
so i painted it, and i guess it bit the dust in your mind!
But to me it turned out great!

That the trouble with pictures--they generally make something look better than it really is. My pictures of my SR look really nice, up close there are some light scratches but it's not so bad that I considered painting. My 650B, OTOH, arrived with repainted parts and I've since acquired other (model correct but in need of paint) parts to give it a nice set of body work, so I do understand.
Forgive us as your pics made it look as though the original paint was first rate. Ride and enjoy!

When you polished the forks, did you put any clear sealer on them? And what did you use to get them so clean? Just an SOS pad or something?
