Thanks for the sentiment Dave, but seriously don't worry about it. I am going to run what I got (the baffle got welded into the endcap this morning) and once I have the money to upgrade my bike I will just get a new exhaust with new endcap as the one I have is old anyways. One day I will have a nice chrome pipe, but for now I am happy with a diy baffle, no big deal.

I only ranted about money up above to give context to my saving the pittance of a new baffle...

Again, thanks Dave

Keep in mind big man... As previously discussed with you regarding patience, dont rush it, take your time, think it out, do it right the first time and don't cut corners etc....

You're spending $$$ on jetts and jetting for an open baffle exhaust so when you do go with a baffle, all this jetting you have been doing may be rubbish...

Meaning you'll have to go through it again...   Yup.... Maybe you'll get lucky...

We have a bike junk yard here and I can get you a used baffle rather cheap... I'll even pay for it and send it to you, no charge what so ever.

We'd rather see you do it correctly then half ass it mi amigo...

If you change your mind, let me know... ;)

If this diy baffle is poo then I will think about it for sure. I don't mind having to do it again...I'm still young and learning, I never had a dirtbike to stick steel wool into. Like I said, we'll see how it works, my current jets are too lean up top and down low, so this will likely richen it up a touch, then I will decide whether to swap mains and pilots or just mains and twist the pilot screw out more. As was said, you are the man for offering to help me out, but I kind of enjoy the "hassle" of learning things the hard way...maybe I'm a sadist or something... :S

When I post a vid we can all post a collective yay or nay

9am53,
Especially if it's used, if it is designated as a gift, and shipped US Postal Service surface mail, you shouldn't have to pay any duty or brokerage fee.

Last night I put my homemade baffle into the exhaust and rode the bike home for the first time since last october (or was it september...) yeehaw! The baffle itself with no glass packing did help with the noise. Below 3000 the bike sounds essentially like it did with no baffle, rumbly and smooth, between 3 and 4000 rpm it is still a bit loud, but MUCH better than before, and above 4000 it sounds really nice and aggressive yet not annoying, I like it alot! I accidentally blasted by a cop and he paid no heed. Another benefit is that it has richened things up a bit, I didn't touch the jets so I could see how the baffle affected things. Just like before the bike starts fine, idles fine, but upon initial takeoff the low throttle response sux, once I get the bike warm it is fine, and now it doesn't pop on decelleration. Once I get the baffle wrapped and my #40 pilots and #135 mains in this weekend it should be perfectamundo! When I have that done I will post pics and vids here and in my other thread.
