I am only now starting to learn the smoke and mirrors from the realities of bike tuning and old bikes capabilities, and he was either really confused or I am riding the wrong bike! He has a SOHC (with stock cam) eight hundred and something bore kit, pods, straight through exhaust ('cause it's loud, and a bike aint a bike unless it's loud) and carb tuning to match the pods and exhaust. As far as I know thats all he has, no porting or fancy headwork, no nothing else. He tells me that hes running 12.5:1 compression, and runs normal 87 octane. From what I have gathered this is crap...I told him so, maybe it's cause I am twice his size, maybe cause we were both drunk, but he started telling me he would destroy my "kz, gpc, kawasaki whatever you have" He claimed that he was getting a big bore kit that would bore his stock 750 block out to over a litre. Apparently there was enough "meat" in the block to bore that big, cause honda engineers designed it as a drag bike in '69...this again sounds like crap, so I told him so and he started telling me to ride it and see...of course I didn't cause I was smashed, but we are on for next summer....my rebuilt back to stock kz1000J vs. his lightly massaged cb750...I feel like this sort of thing has been going on for decades...

I know this because I think the kit will fit a kz650 with custom liners giving a displacement of 860cc's.

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.

back in the day, KZ650's were stomping those old hondas regularly..
I believe it, but he says that all that work he's done puts out 126 hp to the wheel...I don't think my bike with that work would put that out at the crank! He loves his ride, and I get that, but he's just always been silly about his choppers.
As I mentioned we were hammered, but he spent over an hour explaining how comfortable sitting on 1" of foam directly on your tailbone was, but then for another hour how having an uncomfortable bike you can't sit on makes you hardcore, and a real "rider" lol. ah well, something to look forward to next summer. I'l dust him off once I get back from riding across the country in July.
