Daytona dos not have a drag strip that I know of.
When I was there in '73, all the "impromptu" drag racing was happening on Cabbage Patch Road. Little store there at the crossroads where everyone met and set up the races and bets. Very entertaining!

Maybe someone ground it off...:S It should be on the top of the cases under the carb area.
Yep it usually on the engine just above the area where the clutch is, big flat spot, you can't miss it. Take a shot of it and post it.

the starter is on top left of engine cases just under carbs look under the shiny cover, the gear is under stator cover.whats it doing?i can't find the serial number no the engine cases, wouldn't they be on the top of the engine case? Maybe i'm just used to suzuki's .. thing needs a starter clutch too, the last kz i did one of those on I had to flip it over and take it out threw the oil pan.. hopefully the 1000's aren't like that

Sopotnik's was the name of the Cabbage Patch store iirc. Saw some big $$ races run out there or near by when the cops would come by occasionally...

I go to the Cabbage Patch every year for the coleslaw wrestling during Bike Week. Very entertaining to see chicks frolicking around in 500 pounds of coleslaw
