Road racer makes more sence than a drag bike. For sure would not hit 170mph at the drags but maybe on a long back stretch of a track it would. It will be fin to see what in uder the wrapping

With a 5 mile stretch that bike wont get close to 170mph.

so I've jumped into this one with both feet. Have the carbs clean, and the intakes cleaned out, changed the oil, checked everything and then checked it again. Bought a battery and off we go.. I am having alot of back firing threw the carbs, to me tha sounds like an ignition timing thing, the only piece of the bike that was off, was the points cover so I'm sure there has been a problem with this before. so I looked up the firing order 1243. 1 being all the way to the left sitting on the bike. Checked the points and coils and it seemed close enough to me. And yet the bike is still back firing threw the carbs, so I pulled the points plate off then removed the advancer, the arms of the thing are stuck out? Is that a mod to advance the timing that any one has heard of? Or is the unit just stuck? Thing that gets me is how can it stick open? Any one have any ideas?

according to the frame its a 78 kz1000, but there is no markings that i can find on the motor so i have no idea, It def needs a starter clutch so hopefully most of the kz1000 are the same part. Put the fixed advancer in, and it started right up.. any idea on how to tell what year the bottom end of this beast is?
Thanks
