I dont know what price to ask for my bike when I put it on craigslist, and was hoping I could get some feedback on here. As for the bike:

1978 KZ1000 A2
28000 original miles
Runs perfect, starts first try every time
Everything is stock except air filter
I'm the second owner, and I knew the original owner my whole life
Whats new: chain and sprockets from Z1 (stock sizes), front and rear tires, battery, carbs rebuild 700 miles ago
Theres some little speckles of rust on the chrome but other than that its pretty much perfect.
The bike was put in the previous owners basement 6 years ago after he bought a harley thinking his son would want it when he was old enough, son decided he didnt want it and so I bought it, cleaned it, fixed it up and have ridden it all year.
The pictures were taken today, and the trip on the odometer is how many miles I've put on it since I've owned it, riding it to and from work and class.

I feel like the bike is worth alot to the right person, but I dont know where to find that right person, Im afriad everyone is going to just see that its a 30 year old bike and wont want to buy it.

Any feedback on an asking price I would greaty appreciate, and if anyone is interested please let me know

Thanks
Matt

With a KZ1000 that nice I'm thinking eBay with at least a $3000 reserve. I'm sure others will have better $$ estimates. Ed

pretty sweet i'm thinking 3000 would be a good start nice looking survivor notice the stock handle bar and pipes not oftwen do you see those still on a 30 year old bike. if only i wasn't old and broke that is the same bike as my first kawi.

Nice looking bike ! I painted my 77 the same scheme. Looks great. Some folks will tell you that they're worth a dollar per CC. Thats bunk. They ain't making anymore of these gems. Hold your line and the sale will come. Minimum of $3000 I believe.

Very nice. #k might be the limit for it. The original paint and exhaust is a huge plus, but the 77-78 aren't worth nearly as much as the earlier bikes or the 79-80 chain drive A models. You might find the right buyer on the first day or maybe you will have to wait a month or so but you should get the 3k for it. What did you pay for it? Also keep us posted.

Well, I'm going to second all those 3K guesstimates. The bike appears to be in good shape and 3K is a reasonable expectation, particularly, as has already been mentioned, w/original paint and pipes (rare). Craigslist is a good presentation forum but remember that it is very regional and most (not all, though) folks don't search Craigslist unless it is local. A more national forum would be eBay but they take a bite out of your profits...but the audience is absolutely huge (and international). Another outlet might be www.cycletrader.com as that is also national in scope

I just bought a 78 A2, paid $1800 for it. Looks real similar , but I had to put on 2 new tires, chain and sprockets, and do a carb overhaul + cleanup on it. Yours seems to be good to go. I'd definately start at 3K + . You can always negotiate.
