I'm the same way. That's why it was so cool back then they actually ran real motorcycles. Even the pro stocks were highly modified street bikes because the rules back then said stock frame was required, so you could ride your Z1, Z1R or old H2 to the track as a spectator and watch these genius guys run their bikes and dream of what it would be like. Same with the NHRA prostock cars, you could see the Trans Ams, Camaros and such and equate them to a real car. Nice sales could result from fast track times in street bikes and cars. What in the hell happened now in dragracing? I really want to see a 3000cc Vrod harley run in prostock and equate it to my 65hp streetbike? Junk. Or a Chevy Cavalier or whatever 4 cylinder crap street car all decked out in prostock running now. They sell a lot of 4 cylinder econo cars because prostock guys run them? I run to chevy to buy a Cavalier because I saw a prostocker run 6.90? ;)

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

ive raced 1/8 and had fun but drag racing to me has always been 1/4 mile hopefully that won't change any time soon.

we used to have a real nice nhra 1/4 track at scribner nebraska years ago,now we have the 1/8 over in pacific juntion iowa.1/8 is a lot easier on motor parts and the turbo kaws still manage low -mid 5s before having to shut down.they bring out some 4 second cars once in a while but the shut down area is short ive seen a couple cars plow the bean field on other end!

wow ron, you really hit the nail on the head there.
i work as an auto tech and i am amazed everyday by how many kids seen "the fast and the furious" and think there 1.5 liter honda civic is the fastest thing on four wheels.
they used to pay me to install their 4 inch outlet muffler on their cars because they thought it was " the shit"
4 inch muffler with a inch and a half pipe leading up to it.
after the first few, i just stopped trying to explain and took their money.

i wish i was old enough to see the old school guys in auction.
that's why i'm here.
to learn.
and share what i know.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.
