Let's not forget the classic..... add oil to my bike and forget to put cap back on. Start up and watch the oil spray all over right side of bike. Amazing what 3 seconds without oil cap can do! :S

I did this just last week:blush: Added some oil to the bike in the garage and my son came to ask for something. Got back in, fired up the bike and drowe it out to the other side of our house. Went back into garage to kill the lights and lock the door when I see the oil cap on the table. I just had to laugh out loud for my stupidity:silly:

How about pouring 5 quarts of oil into an old Buik and still not getting a reading on the dipstick just to find out that "someone" hadn't put the plug back in the pan. Does that one count?

  One of my stupid hurts moments was when I was a teenager working on the carbs of my Suzuki GT550 three cylinder two stroke. After installing the carbs I couldnt get the bike to fire so I figured I was young and strong enough to push start the old girl. As I pushed towards the end of my driveway I jumped on sidesaddle. Well the carbs were stuck wide open and being sidesaddle all I could was let go, and watch my bike hit the curb go airbourne and T-bone my neighbors house across the street. Man those two strokes are quick. I have never pushed started sidesaddle again. (It left emotional dumbass scars). After 25 years my friend that witnessed the spectacle spills his beer in laughter every time it is mentioned. I am laughing as I type this now.

I just finished changing the waterpump on my 93 Camaro. I went back inside the garage to smoke a ciggerette with my roommates. Now, at this time I was a ripe old age of 21. At 21 you are still stupid. However; you should have at some point in time come to realize that fire is hot.

Anyway, I had some oil and grease on my arm. And somehow it got into my head that it would be a good idea to touch the lit cigerette to said oil and grease. I have no clue what I was trying to accomplish by this.

The end result was a blister on my arm for about a week and a scar for about 3 months. Plus, to two roommates who would remind me not to touch my arm with the cigerette every time I would smoke.

1981? CSR 1000 -- I'll figure it out soon enough.

Kawickrice, although not quite as spectacular I did something similar working on my first bike, a Yamaha RD 350 (also a 2-stroke). Did a rebuild over the winter, got it all back together and finally it was time to start her up. I did and the rpms went trough the roof before all the fuses blew, didn't even have time to pee a little. Turned out I got the carb slides installed backwards - the slides have a groove on one side that fits a guide tab in the carb, somehow I got them switched meaning the slides were resting on the tabs leaving the carbs wfo. Nothing quite like hearing a 2-stroke rev to 12,000+ in an 8 x 12 concrete room :S

When I first moved back to J'Oklahoma a few years ago, one of the first things I tackled was getting my dad's GS1000 back on the road. It'd sat for so long that the carbs had varnished up and the floats were stuck open. As soon as the vacuum petcock opened, gas would start running out of the overflow tubes, which the engineers at Suzuki had thoughtfully routed right in front of the rear wheel. Makes for an "interesting" ride, for sure!

I went through the 400-step process of pulling the carbs, douching them out with cleaner, and putting them back in the bike... and then it wouldn't start. I opened the float bowl drain screws, and nothing came out. Hmmm, not getting fuel... I pulled the tank and cleaned out the petcock, still nothing. I tried blowing through the fuel inlet hose with no success... So then I had to wrestle the airbox back out and pull the carbs again and take the float bowls off... to discover that I'd put the floats in upside-down!

Oh Lord It`s Hard To Be Humble - Mac Davis

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
when you're perfect in every way.
I can't wait to look in the mirror
cause I get better loking each day.
To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
but I'm doing the best that I can.
I used to have a girlfriend
but she just couldn't compete
with all of these love starved women
who keep clamoring at my feet.
Well I prob'ly could find me another
but I guess they're all in awe of me.
Who cares, I never get lonesome
cause I treasure my own company.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
when you're perfect in every way,
I can't wait to look in the mirror
cause I get better looking each day
To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
but I'm doing the best that I can.
I guess you could say I'm a loner,
a cowboy outlaw tough and proud.
I could have lots of friends if I want to
but then I wouldn't stand out from the crowd.
Some folks say that I'm egotistical.
Hell, I don't even know what that means.
I guess it has something to do with the way that I
fill out my skin tight blue jeans.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
when you're perfect in every way,
I can't wait to look in the mirror
cause I get better looking each day
To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
but I'm doing the best that I can.
We're doing the best that we can
