Okay, here are some photos of the '82 KZ1000 with 22 miles. There is still plenty of dust in every nook and cranny and I did find a good crack in the front tire. It does turn freely, but we did not hook up a battery to it. I do not know how to do more than 1 photo at a time???? Is there a way? Thanks.

Can I post more than 1 photo at a time? I do have a lot. It will go onto Ebay for .99 cent starting bid, with no reserve I am guessing. That is usually how we do everything. The main reason I posted it here was just to find out if it should be fixed first or just sold. I believe most think the way I do, it should be sold as is.

Alright after looking at the additional pics I've got a better idea what you have. I don't quite know if I have any really good answers though. This bike is kind of a tough one to call. On one hand it would be good to tell the buyer that you have heard it run, but if you do try to start it and the jets are plugged up you are going to blue the heck out of the pipes and bring the value down.

The bike has some cosmetic issues and to make it all it can be, it is going to require some elbow grease. I think I would put it up for sale as is but I would certainly put a reserve on it. It may just break the bank on ebay it all depends who sees it and how bad they want it. All it would take is two bidders to get into a war over it and it could bring retarded money. :)

I'll retract my previous doubt comments and opologize. I still don't think 22 miles, but it looks like a low mileage neglected one. I'm 500 miles from SLC. I'll bid on it.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I'd put it on eBay, but first I would jack up the front and spin the wheel to make sure the speedo works. I say this after noticing the heavy scoring on the front rotor. It would be bad to sell it as a 22 mile bike only to have the buyer come back and tell you that's not the true milage. Ed

Good pics, kawisteve.
I think it will fetch a pretty good price, as is.
If my dog was in this fight (and it might be), I'd worry about buying a bike that's not running, and hasn't run for decades. Surface corrosion and paint doesn't bother me, but an engine teardown is out of my league. Still, with a case of Newcastle Beer and a map to my house, I might get RetroRiceRocketRider to come and train me!

I don't know if that would work Ed. IIRC that model used an electronic speedo so unless you power up the bike with a battery I don't think you will get any kind of reading.

As to the scoring on the rotors, without running a fingernail over them it would be hard to tell if they are actually scored, no real way to tell from just a pic. Looking at things like the rear chain adjusters, I'm inclined to believe the mileage is true. This bike just looks to be neglected and stored improperly.
