whats redline for a 1300? at 9000rpms with a 160/17 tire i am coming up with 141.70mph. i found the trans ratios online for a 79' but it did not give engine specs. if it would pull 9500 rpm it would be 150mph, and with 120hp i'd kinda think it could on a good day.
redline for a 1300 is 8500 but that rear tyre is huge. standing next to my Z1R it it is about another 3/4 inch taller the tire is a 130/90 Avon Venom the graph in the book is a quick and easy way to estimate the speed.

cant believe this thread is still going.
Or, it's more likely that you can't believe that a site exists for a bunch of old clunkers that no one is interested in anymore? Right?
It seems as though you've had a chip on your shoulder since Day One. Trust me. You're not the first to be called on hyperbole (that's B.S. down on the farm) and certainly won't be the last. This group does a good job of vetting anyone who chooses to play fast and loose with the truth. We know these old war horses very well and what they're capable of. If you're ticked because some potential buyer was scared off of your auction because of what was written here, then let that be a lesson to be honest and forthright next time.
Now, before you burn your last bridge, you may wish to reconsider the attitude that you've displayed in this thread. If you look around there is a vibrant community surrounding the Kawasaki KZ models. You're welcome to stay and participate as a member in the community or you can be on the outside looking in.
The choice is yours.
Nate
Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Aaaa-Men Bruda. We are all full of BS at one time or another. We just get cought more often than not, here. I think that the most important thing to remember in a life lesson is, "It is not what you say, but how you say it"

KZ1300 in 1980 ran 139mph in the CW test, so darn close, but the Katana was the first to 140 the way CW did their tests at least.
Not bad for a 700+lb (wet) bike (Plus a fat arse sitting on it) I had custom cams hard welded and reground for mine plus the Gpz750 pistons and the ZN1300 ported head with oversized valves. I will be very curious what this thing will do.
