Not to worry - most folks with those bikes don't ride them 120 miles in a year! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Ed

i have a tank i built i could only get 65 miles out of :pinch: :whistle: !

and after riding it that far i felt like i had rode my z1r 300 miles,so i was ready to take a break :laugh: !
no one motorcycle can cover all the thrills i like to get on two wheels so it takes some variety for me.
and some times a small tanked rough ridng barely there chopper is just what i'm lookin for :evil: !

That's similar to lugged bicycle frame construction.

We use to do that kind of welds. Silver solder. They tried to replace us with the auto welder but couldn't find a way to sweat solder this kind of joint. Problem with this kind of weld, too hot, BURN and it's junk.

I picked up a magazine last week while I was away and I came across this article ;

I thought, Hey,theres a bloke on the kwak thing with a cracked hardtail frame.Maybe this is something for him.
The magazine is called '100%Biker' Its issue No.194 and I see WWW.100-BIKER.COM on the cover.Though,inside it says www.100-biker.co.uk
Good luck
