Ok guys. So I recently picked up an '83 KZ1100 LTD for a disgustingly good price. The bike was in good shape, but the guy said the carbs were shot, blah blah blah. I cleaned the carbs and got the bike running. After some fine tuning, it's running like a bat out of hell. Now I'm getting into some customizing work. I'd really like to chop it up and make a rat racer/chopper out of it. However, I can't seem to find anywhere that sells a complete forward control kit for this bike. Does anyone have any experience with this? If I can't find a kit, I suppose I will make custom controls, but would really like to save myself the trouble. All input is welcome on this. Thanks in advance.

There isn't going to be any bolt on forward controls for that bike. Have you ridden a bike with forward controls? I personally will never own a bike that has footpegs i cant stand on.

With a little work and forward controls your "chopper" can look as "cool" as this one (and handle as well too).    Ed

You need to add to it, not hack it up. Unless you won't be riding in the rain, you'll need a front fender. That's a good looking/running machine, too bad the new owner doesn't appreciate it. Here's one, the owner wants $5000 for it in Holly Weird. I sent him a reply of $450 parts only and he thought I wanted the fenders.

It's your bike and you can do what you want with it, just don't ask me what I think of it hacked up. You may not like the answer.

Good luck
Steve

I found it online. I'm sure someone did some photoshop work on that image. I can only imagine, if it was real, how hot that tire and the wheel bearings would get when running down the highway. Ed

Yeah,WTF?
Welcome to the site. kz_fl. This is a good site. There can be lots of helpful people here.Dont be put off by the pooh-poohers. Fuck'em all. Build the bike you want to build. (just be careful mentioning 'forward controls' apparently! maybe refer to them as 'anti-rearsets !?)
Good luck with your build. Please make it pic heavy.
