Thanks. I feel it turned out good. That glass is messy. Really messy but, belt sander and touch up body filler and she'll look great.

I guess spring can't get here fast enough. I'm going to be ditching the metal and fiberglass seat and making an all fiberglass seat with a functional bump stop that will keep everything electrical housed within. And since all the wiring is yanked and I have an empty shell to work with I'm going to be able to get this naked. I'm just thinking of places to mount voltage regulator. Was thinking under the headlight like a triumph but, I've got all of the Wyoming winter to pounder this. But, it's going to be an awesome little orange thing.

I made a thin tray between the rails under the seat on mine.. It houses 2 relays, starter solenoid,, fuses and voltage regulator. Pics in my build thread. Oh, I also mounted the battery under the hump.

Those are some sharp looking bikes you have there. And those electrics are very clean. I change my mind at a moments notice or after I get half way into a project but, I think that kz1000 rear is sexy. If I could get it to flow with the bike I would but, I'm thinking with the way the 440s frame bends it'd look iffy. As for right now I'm going for the fiberglass bump I previously made. And after seeing how most people mold those seat and bumps I could get it done cheap. Wifey loves flowers which gives me access to that floral foam. And I purchased enough resin to build a bunker so just need time.

flint wrote: Painted the wheels and it was easier then the one man wrestling match that was getting the tires on. Wife came out and seen me right when I let out my conquering war cry. With my foot atop the rear wheel like I just beheaded some evil demon and saved the world... It was a awkward moment but, she said "wow those look good!" So I let another war cry out and called it a day in the shop.

self etching primer + duplicolor wheel paint = awesome.

And this is how you finish the day. (Ride before, drink after)

Your wheels look great can you tell me how you cleaned them up before painting?
Thanks Tomas

I had the tires off and used a lot of elbow grease with some simple green to knock off the road tar that blessed these things. After that I used a mildly acidic aluminum wheel cleaner and sprayed that stuff on and had a parts cleaner brush and just got in there all nice and deep like. Cleaned off with water and let dry for a day and then had my way with them.

The lady that's buying the bike didn't want the bump seat so... It's just getting a very simple seat put on.

So the stock battery box is back on it. Wiring is going... Not sure good or bad yet. I have a toggle switch for the lights and the blinkers so when you turn the key it's just the starter and igniter getting juice, not everything. The carb is still needing fine tuning but, it goes great.

I don't have a picture of the new exhaust yet but, it has 1 3/4 inch with baffles running out past the swing arm about 6 inches so for the most part it won't wake the dead. I'll get more picture when I get it done.

Just picked up my first KZ and I really like what you did with this one! I was wondering what shocks you're running out back, as I might pick up a pair when I have the money (I'm a broke college kid.....). Keep doing what you're doing cause all your builds are awesome.

Cheers :)

Thanks man. The orange bike was mostly a bunch of cleaning and paint. I did rewire it but, for the most part just handle bar controls, headlight and the carb setup. I'll pm you the list of things I ordered.

I found them on amazon after years if not decades of looking for something sporty looking. Anyways I got them in January and have maybe twenty miles on them. They work but, $100 for shocks. I'm banking on them not lasting the summer. But, they of look sharp.

Enough rambling. They're RFY 13.5 absorbers. They say for cb500.
