I kinda like to think of this place as a place for all things motorcycle. But there seems to be an underlying "oh you like those pieces of shit style bikes?" going on. You can say they are not my style or you can say they are not for you but going out of your way to dis a style is plain stupid and may well be a reflection of the author of those words. Oh I'm a purist,I'm a street racer, chopper guy, rat guy, or I just like to look like I know what I'm doing custom guy.... who gives a flying fuck? That's what you and a bunch others like. Yeah I have a bobber like bike and a nice original coming along nicely. I have had all kinds of bikes. Crotch, standard, classic, dirt and tour and they were all great bikes. I'm riding the bob right now while I restore the standard and I'll tell you it rides great and gets a lot of eyeballs. I have had more people come up and talk about bikes while riding it than most others. So drop the attitude. Anyone who rides two wheels has enough going against them without another biker being an ass.
Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

Brat, go ahead and build what ever you like. Have fun and just enjoy the ride. Like Proxy said we got enough to worry about without worring about making other riders happy with our own builds. Besides, I'm kind of bias towards the bratbike style.

Welcome to the club if you are using Firefox. Firefox's most recent version works like crap for pics. If you're not using Internet Explorer give it a try for loading pictures; that's the only way I can get mine to load; then I switch back to FF for everything else. Ed

So,
I have my 2002 CBR954RR chassis that I picked up, and the front end looks like it is going to work as well as any other front end swap.
The swingarm on the other hand was looking way to complicated.
So I hunted some more and that is when I got the 2002 FZ1 swingarm. Very basic looking swing arm, which is just what i was looking for. 3/8 shaved of either side and a length of stainless tubing for a shim, and it fits right in. I'll have to add some bushings or washers to finish it up, but far from a complicated swap...as well it fit my 190 tire on the CBR wheel.

Got to the stage where I could do a little mock up, keep in mind the berings for the head tube are still not in and it will need the usual swaping of the stem, and the tank is just resting on the frame as it doesn't fit proper....yet.
