If you have the piston out, it may be of some benefit to polish it. There are SOME gains to be made in brake performance in this area.
Personally, I would go with the factory reccomended brake fluid.

DOT 3 or DOT 4 will work fine; they are compatible. DOT 5 is not. Ed
