1980 KZ 1000 B4 LTD 1327 Build

Well Figured i would start a build thread. Here is a pic of my bike as it sits now.


I have some big plans for this bike. The bike already has some work done to it. It has a 1075 kit with j model head, psp-3x cams. Dyna ignition and coils. RS 36 flatslides. It is stretched 2 to 4 inches over stock. It is just a stock stretched arm. I m running a 150 rear tire. I have rode the bike for quite a while now. I am getting to the point where i wanted more, So figured it was time for a new motor. So far i got the bottom end back together. It Is a mk11 engine also. With all mk11 internals. I had John Pearson weld the crank and backcut the transmission. Also he has the jug right now sleeving the jug. Anyway here is a picture of the bottom end back together. Sorry i didnt take any of it while i was apart.



Ive been polishing the top case. I started out sandblasting the cases with 30/40 glass bead to get the cases to look like new.



Then i used a dremmel tool with a 180 buff wheel then touched it up with the 280 buff wheel. Then wet sanded it with 800 grit then wet sanded it with 1000 grit. Then after that i polish it with white diamond aluminum polish and buffing wheels on my drill. Here is out it is turning out.



Still got alot to go here is what the rest of it looks like



That is just what i got as far as the bottom end goes. I will be using the top end off my current motor. I will polish it up some also. But that will be down the road. I will be ordering the pistons tomorrow. I will be getting a frame brace kit from Jim aka wireman. Thanks Jim. The engine will be getting alot more goodies down the road. Ill keep everyone informed as it comes along.

Now as for the rear goes... I purchased a 4 to 6 over swingarm that is 10 1/4 wide off of Les Holt. Thanks Les, looks great, Excellent quality like always.Here is a Pic.

Thanks Jim. I like it too. Its Gonna stay near the same. Just diffrent swing arm and rear rim. The only reason why iam doing the rear is to help get some more traction. This way i will be able to run a 190/50/17 rear tire. I am gonna need all the traction i can get. lol

Heres a couple shots of my 1327 after building the 1st 1327 motor and sticking it in there,with the stock wheelbase and little old 130 tire out back it was seriously challanged in the traction department but once it was rolling it was fun being able to do wheelies in any gear,really pissed off sportbikes from stop light to stoplight though! :woohoo:

Thats a good looking old Kaw. I cant wait to get more done. Iam ready to get it together and ride it.

Thats before I put the z1 bodywork and wire wheels with 3" over arm on it,a guy i worked with down in kansas is tearing up the track down south with it now.
time for me to build a new/improved replacement killer!

with the 190 rear are you goimg to cut the frame , thats what i did to mine . looks like a great bike already.

You mean to clearance for the chain? If so ya i will probally have to. I havent installed it yet, or ever done it before. So i am still learning. If anyone has tips or knows what all exactly needs done feel free to chime in.

bike sounds like it will be a real street burner i used the same wheel on my orange bike and my green one put 200 on both of them had to use a 5/8th offset sprocket and i used a 530 chain they are a smaller chain helps with clearence. you only have to notch 1 of the frame braces or you can heat the side that it rubs on put a pair of vicegrips on it and and it will bend it you bont need much. that is the way i did it works fine some people will say thats not the way to do it but everbody has there own way or notch and reweld whatever. these thing look good with the 200 :evil:

Ya i would like to run a 200 also. I will have to do some measuring once its all mocked up. I wanna stay with my 630 chain. Its a 1/2 season old 12,000# d.i.d. premium race chain. I paid really good money for it. So if i could keep it that would be awesome. Plus i feel safer with a 630. I know its like another oil war topic but with 530 compared to 630 chains. anyway the chain is already long enough for the swingarm also. Also jeffg1 what front ends are you running? And how much clearance do you have between the chain and tire? how much did you have to take off the hub?

not sure what you me by frt.end as far as the hub i took nothing off of it and the chain has never hit the tire but i had my swingarm made for me. all i had to do was dent the frame about 3/8th. if you run a offset sprocket you will have to hog out the inside of the cover that covers the frt.sprocket my tire also sits in the center of the bike it is not offset to the right have put alot of miles on the road and the strip so it is done rite no problems at all.
