i see you are using the makita grinder to port with.

joe mondello taught me to port with the same grinder.
we used dimmer switches for lights and wired em into a box with two plug ins so we could turn the rpm up and down.
how are you controlling your rpm ?

I paired it with a 5 speed dremel that is much weaker than the Makita, What I did was use the Makita to hack away aluminum at a reasonable pace, then fine tune and polish with the variable speed Dremel.

I am also very envious about Mondello, I was looking at his classes a couple weeks ago online haha

Let me know when you start yours Id like to see the progress of it. Outside of the hard work of making it come together and tedious cleaning to make it shine, I dont see any reason to for me to ever buy a new bike haha. This build has rewarded me with; ambition, character, integrity, and all around fun. A little discerning when budget doesnt afford what you want, but you step back solve the problem and realize you could make it yourself all along haha. I would suggest this for everyone.

A tip, Stay strict on the budget, and make sure it runs before you start.

Engine takes a whole new type of budget, its called 'Get ready to empty you bank account'

My balcony is a huge mess, even pouring into the apartment a little. Sorting everything out. I still have to cut the seat to the size for a good fit. I will be upholstering it next week. Its a mess now but definately coming together.

The update here is I called a shop to change my tires and he brought to my attention to check if the tires are tubeless. After doing research I saw very little clarity on the subject. Some say 'TL' means tubeless and some say the bead lock ridges determine tubeless. Then some say only listen to the rim if it says in plain English 'tubeless'. For lack of better logic I have decided to run tubes back and front for safety measures.

I finished cutting and smoothing out the fiberglass cafe seat skeleton. Took the forks off the bike, sanded them vertically with 320 grit, horizontally with 480, then over again horizontally with a microfiber cloth cut into strips dabbed in lightly abrasive aluminum polish. The effect keeps it away from unnaturally polished aluminum to a almost out of the factory with machine like grooves. This effect was wanted for reason of this to be my daily rider and the end product is as rewarding to me as a mirror finish and it will also get demolished on the coming years.

Things to be done next is; patching the seats voids, upholstering with the fake leather, get the new tires and tubes mounted, get more exhaust wrap to finish the wrapping.

So came the day to upholster the seat. I improvised a simple sectioned design for it. Taking every face of the seat, measuring and cutting accordingly. The next seat will be employing a sewing machine. The fluffy loose part on the seat pan is where a thin layer of foam will go.
