Self Sustaining Cafe Project was created by peavylotus
Money for this build is to be made by selling the parts I will not be using off the bike. I have put up many parts on ebay and have gotten good response from them.

So That is the 'theme' to this build. Obtaining this bike from a motorcycle shop I worked at, I am secure with going with 'self sustaining' the build knowing it runs fine.

It is a 1980 KZ-1000.

I am starting the project forum since making sales of some parts allowing the build processes to begin.

This is the wiring diagram I succesfully made. Its much easier than I thought, inly issue I had at first was ignition but it was so easy I thought it was fun.

Not too much wear on the disks, Dirty though.

Attachment DSCN0667.JPG not found

The underside is a mess, nothing I cant handle

Attachment DSCN0683.JPG not found

This to me is mayhem, This is the sight when you make something more than what it really is. This messyness is the reason I was drawn to a bare bones bike.

Attachment DSCN0647.JPG not found

Im sure this looks just as fun to you as it does me.

Attachment DSCN0642.JPG not found

Broken but it looks pretty cool. These will be coming off the most ill use is the speedometer.

Attachment DSCN0634_2012-07-15.JPG not found

This is the whole bike. Not bad for 600.00 with rebuilt carbs, newly re-lined gas tank (that ill be selling) and new fluids (which I'll be changing).

Thank you

I am a fan of this look but Im a 140 pound 5' 5" guy so it's just too much bike for me haha. I need small and nimble characteristics as well as simple.

This is where I am at now though vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

A few things I bought, I am buying in order of importance so all the not too fun parts I have to buy first.

Attachment 1_throttl_gold_ani.gif not found

I bought this except I bought a black one. I want it to look like it came on the bike stock.

Attachment grips.JPG not found

Same with the grips, most mods I do to hardware I am aiming to look like it could be stock. Also I will be cutting the disks off of the grips to give it a cleaner look.

Attachment heatwrap.jpg not found

I got some white heat wrap, even though I should have saved for other things...I found some for a great deal, and Ive always wanted wrapped headers on a vehicle so I went with it.

The next purchase is tires, ugh so expensive.

Also Im headed to use a sandblaster this weekend to sand blast all the exhaust parts and try to repair the holes and possibly get some parts powder coated...that is a BIG maybe on powder coat though.

Its stock, and used to be chrome but now is rusty ha. It looks like it had been attempted at repair before. I am REALLY interested in them, just let me know what you want for them and I will see if I can afford them.

I got the Throttle, Grips and heat tape. This has nothing to do with those parts but I have made some progress. I did some chopping of the frames tail section and rear foot peg mounts. I cut mu handlebars 1.5 inches on each side to give myself more of a comfortable handle on the bike. I took apart the rear shocks to clean them up and made a bracket for the speedometer.
