Yeah, that car is something to drive, 550 horse, same for torque, six gears of fun! The amazing part is how mellow the car is until you mash the go pedal. The ol man has always had pretty cool taste in toys.

I hate Carbs! More to follow... I got a selection of new jets from our friends at Z1 enterprises, Installed them, returned the needle clip to stock postion (26mm, 17.5 pilot, 115 main, 2-2 pipes, and 2-2 filters). figured I would start at stock, and go from there. just a refresher, comp is good, carbs meticulously cleaned...4x, spark and timing good, and am experiencing considerable blow by while waiting for rings to seat. so it was running rich with the previous set up(115 mains that got to meet a torch cleaner, and needle raised one clip setting). Like I stated, I wanted to get to stock, and go from there. so last night, I did just that, and had to push the bike home twice. it was too lean to run(or so I thought) . Tonight I pullled the carbs, and raised the needle one notch(thats all, only changing one thing at a time!). It was hard to start, but then came around, I had set the petcock to reserve, and she was purring decent(not nice, but decent). so I tested the waters, put as little bit of load on the motor, and was confident it run around the block. It ran fairly good, easily the strongest since the teardown, but very rough, and choppy. when I pulled back into the garage, it smelled a little bit rich, and once warm, the choke made things worse, not better. I figured I would let it idle there for a while, kind of get some color on the plugs if you will. then it starts racing, so I adjust idle down, then it stalls   so I fire it again...still fidling with idle screw    next it dies and with not come back to life    , a quick shake of the bike reveals no sloush sound...perfect, out of gas    . this wouldnt be a problem, but Im 100% sure I need to return to the stock needle setting and try again, as It was not on reservre when I was pushing it home

It has about 250 miles on the rings, and #1 checked out at 135 or so. It was getting late, but today while the tank is off I'm gonna check them all. I still kind of suspect that I need to lower the slides to get the pilot circuit working properly, but I kind of need to get it in the ballpark, and get some miles on her to seat the rings(so I'm just burning gas, not oil too.) Then I will once again delve into the final tuning of it( sync and color tune). But, if I should fail to get these suckers close...feeling some new carbs... also stopped and ponied up 8 bucks a gallon for some 110 octane race fuel, which I will mix 50/50 with the regular crap, hoping it will lay some color on the plugs for me

I was mistaken about the comp numbers, all four cylinders when ice cold were within a couple pounds of 110. Sooo... pulled the needle back up to the middle slot, and low and behold, its runs half decent with fuel in the tank. It is certainly as close as I have had it. She is definitely kind of flat on the top end, and the air screws seem happiest about 2.25 turns out. I think I will toss in the 117.5 mains that I have, see how she runs, and then try bumping the pilot once too, but first I'm gonna take her for a spin. Pulled the number 4 plug for a sneak peek. It looked pretty good, can't seem to upload a pic from my phone, so that will have to wait, gonna take my honey for a spin first.

The rc-2222s fit really well right out of the box. The only issue is that the kick start lever touches the right filter. Here is a thread with a little more information kzrider.com/forum/3-carburetor/526950-ka...s-anyone-tried-these

On a positive note, the bike is running pretty good, put a few miles on it Friday night, and its pretty happy right in the middle, just a bit tough on transition from idle to throttle, and a bit flat on top end power. It seems to run best with pilot screws out around 3 turns, so I'm gonna try stepping the pilot up a click, and after that I will try the main too. I'm hoping the needle stays happy where its at, but wouldn't be at all surprised if it needs attention after changing the main. Oh yeah, it seems that the ole girl has expensive taste too, as 8$ a gallon race fuel really smooths things out!
