I also blasted, primered, and painted the reed valves in VHT Aluminum

I would like to punch the Bubba that "replaced all engine gaskets and valve cover gasket" in the throat!

The yahoos that charged over $2000 for work done to this bike re-used the cam end plugs and even cracked one during install. I spent a couple of hours getting the old gasket material off the head.

I ended up putting a very thin film of black permatex on the head, in the plug valley, and then on the valve cover, before sticking the gasket to the cover. I haven't had a chance to run the engine for more than 30 seconds but I am confident that my oil leaks have now been sealed

Being uncertain as to which style carb is fitted on the bike at hand, here are some examples on both manual slide carb and CV carb.









Some carbs have an additional vacuum nipple dedicated to a vacuum operated petcock.
Where such additional vacuum nipple unused, it must also be capped/plugged.

Okay, the Earl's Oil Cooler finally arrived and it is installed!!

Cooler mounted using rubber coated P-clamps. I mounted them to the crash bar and held them steady by loosening the crash bar and crushing the clamps between the downtubes and the bar.

A test warm-up showed good flow and no leaks in the new cooling system. However, a leak did appear at the front of the valve cover. I will have to pull it off and re-check everything GRRRR


Mounted high as possible given the size of the unit (8.5"w x 4"h x 2"d)


I used 45 deg fittings and ran both lines to the center, then down and right (from the rider), to the frame, then up and around
