You've got to be kidding. That's retarded. As long as it's visible and lit I don't see what they can gripe about.

when I got pulled over I wasnt sure why pu my kickstand down got off he came up complimented me on my bike and told me in indiana your plate has to be in the center (rear) of the vehicle with correct orientation mine was verticle off rear axle. if I remember right it was 187.00 dollar ticket

my nephew has an s10 with a crooked plate moulded into the corner of his tailgate no problems I have ran them in the back window of my car with no problems.

not sure if he was new or just pissed and wanting to write a ticket but with open header and integrated tail light I already have enough reasons for a ticket but if I dont get this plate lined out I will be chancing it

What do they have to say about Jeeps with factory offset plates, or about ever trailer ever made? I can understand saying it can't be sideways but they're just being ticky tacky. Go fight real crimes and leave harmless customizations alone.

I do whatever I want to mine and if they don't like it they write the equivalent of fixit tickets, show up to court with proof you fixed it and they drop it.

Is it possible to increase preload on the rear shock?

Good Fortune! :)

Shocks on stock bikes are designed to bottom out when the shock reaches maximum compression, before any hard parts hit the rear tire. There's usually a rubber bumper to soften the stop.

Common dual rear shocks usually have 5 different spring preload settings, ranging from soft to firm.
A mono-shock may have a threaded body with a large "nut" used to increase or decrease the spring preload.

Typically, a heavier load, such as a bigger rider or adding a passenger, may require an increased shock spring preload to afford a stiffer suspension and help prevent bottoming out.

If the spring is too weak, or if the suspension travel is too great, some hard part will likely hit the tire at maximum compression.

With some shocks, it might be feasible to fabricate an additional bumper to reduce the suspension travel at full compression.

In the case at hand, further increasing the spring preload might keep the tag from hitting the rear tire. It may be possible to use a large screw driver on a nut with indentations, and turn the nut by tapping the screw driver with a hammer.

The screws may be for damping adjustments, such as compression damping and rebound damping. Increasing the compression damping might also help stiffen the suspension and help prevent the tag from hitting the tire.

Good Fortune! :)

Got a Chance to go up to Les' and get some work done on my front end wheel
spacing, Made a support brackey for my license plate angle is a little extreme but
shouldnt have any problems folding it under bought a spanner wrench online to
adjust my preload (thanks Patton) Les had a Zx9 dogbone that has a slight
angle difference that gives the shock a quicker compression that that will probably
cure my problem if their isnt enugh adjustment

Thanks again Les cant tell you hou greatful I am for your help!
