Now I'm still fooling around in my head with the idea of thru bolting a mount for the rear shocks on the swingarm. Two bolts to go thru and have the mount be moveable if I get different shocks or want to continually fool with shock angle. The mount would have evenly spaced holes that could drop through two holes in the swingarm.
I would assume welding of the mounts is safer, but if these bolts are grade 8 and locktited in and don't move, would there be any issue with this setup from a safety standpoint?
I'm not sure its the best idea, but I definitely wanted to throw this out there.
Try not to laugh too hard at my crudely drawn idea. I figured drawing a picture at work would be easiest and take a photo of it.

those are made to go through something thick enough to have the bevels cut into it so they can sit in the bevels and get support from the surrounding material.
i bet you can't get them tight enough not to slop around.
cut out some washers(for lack of a better term)out of some old radiator hose or something around 1/4 to 3/8 thick.and use those along with some flat washers on top and bottom of the triple clamp, then trim off the extra bolt length and re-thread.i can spin you up some spacers if you need them,if you can supply some dimensions.

Good point about the brackets for the swingarm too. Maybe I won't go that route. It is does slap hard that COULD happen. I don't want any safety concerns so I'll have to think about that.
What kind of spacers would you make? To make up the distance to where the thread is underneath? So use the rubber hose on top, sandwiched between two washers, and what about underneath? Any rubber needed underneath?
It looks like the squished rubber hose might be what Mark used as well, he had really flat thin rubber "washers" in his triple clamp pics too.

u can use the big bottom cup washer on top (mine had 1 larger cup washer on top and a smaller 1 on the bottom. i just cut the top off of 1 of the cone washers and used that as a flat washer on top. look at my pick again.
u could put a sleeve underneath to take up the extra bolt length or just use a shorter bolt. don't the bolts come out ? mine do.
u can big nuts, washers,? what ever u can find, u can even use the to large rubber dampers for now.i have 1 of those rubber dampers under mine, but put the larger tapered end up against the bottom of the tree.

those tapered washers were meant to go into a tapered sleeve, similar to the ones in the pick of my top mount. where the gauges mount.

I'll check if the bolt is removable too, I'm not sure but you're the second person to say that so maybe they are which would be good. Thanks!

I put the clamp flush on the top (washers, spacers or rubber, and then underneath I just have the wrist pins as spacers and then the nut. It's most likely temporary, but for now it's solid! which is encouraging. I'll revisit it later, but for now I am happy.
I'm going to be putting the motor back together and need some advice. I want to use case sealer or some kind of sealer/sealant to avoid leaks between the cylinders and the cases. Is there a specific product or brand anyone recommends?
I was looking up different kinds online and came across Loctite 518 as a possible solution, or some type of threebond? Also, where do you find this? I can't find this at my local parts stores. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I think I am going to go ahead and order those lower shock mount brackets from Z1. I need to find someone to weld aluminum now!
