Nice job on the tubes. I made a swingarm for a quad a while back using heavy guage tubing. I was going to buy a tubing notcher like you have, but I found I could bang out a birdsmouth in no time using a pneumatic deburr tool. I just traced a mark using a scrap piece of tubing. Use those spiral carbide bits like for engine porting.

Thanks for the link. When I went to it I remembered that I'd been there before - lots of great stuff - thanks for being so diligent about posting. I'll try to return the favor and keep a good record of my project.
I recently stumbled across this site...
www.radicalducati.com/index.php?page=catalogo-rad
Which has given me some good trestle work (not really a shocker). I just have to figure out how to make something that fits the work already done.
You better believe my pics are on KZR. This link will take you to page 2 of my build: kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...mit=20&limitstart=20
That's where it starts. Unfortunately it's all sorta spread out in my thread. If I have time later, I'll put all of the pertinant pictures together, and post them for you. Sounds like your idea is about the same way I did mine. You will probably need to do something like OMR for the upper mount. I was just lucky since the GSXR still had a double cradle frame. The newer bikes tilt the shock further back.

Thanks - grinder is coming out.
RobK wrote:BTW - There is a small tab in between the centerstand mounts (about 1" tall).
Can anyone tell me what it's for? I bought this bike completely disassembled and so not sure what it's function is. My best guess is that it's the upper center stand spring mount, but would like to now for sure before the angle grinder comes out.
Thanks.
It's for the center stand spring. You can cut it out. You would have to be real creative to use a center stand with a mono shock setup.
Thanks - grinder is coming out.

Yup. There's all different shapes you can get. It can run away from you though, so practice on a scrap piece.

Bookmarked that one. Thanks.
The pictures that I promised. The first are the bushings that I made to adapt GSXR pivot bearings to KZ1000 pivot bolt.
If you look closely at the crossbar where the center stand used to be, you can see the tabs that I welded in for the lower shock linkage. !/4" thick plate was used for the tabs.
BTW don't forget that you can click the picture for supersize.

Thanks for the pics. I'm gonna get the rolling chasis back together and then see if I can mimic (at least approximately the trail and rake of the ZX-6R), before figuring out where to put the mounts in.

And from the side
Do everything you can to duplicate the donor bikes suspension geometry. It will have an effect on how the rear shock behaves, suspension travel, compression rate....blah blah blah. You're on track, keep it up

My top shock mount is very similar to irishwills bike. I took my inpiration (maybe a little more) from his design
