78 KZ 1000 project was created by mvent
Well , got the KZ and am about to start its refurb, a little rougher than I would have liked, however it forces me to strip it completely to be satisfied, attaching some pics, not sure which direction this is heading, but leaning towards stock.
Thanks to all the members for the inspiration in following your projects.

those stock pipes look like they are in good shape. definitly has a lot of potential.

Engine is ready to be removed, everything is pretty much stripped, will submit more oics over weekend.
Leaning towards soda blast on engine and sand blasting frame, wish me luck lol

A little elbow grease and a few bucks. You have a very good starting point for sure. I have seen alot worse, mine being one of them



Soda and sand with some polish and you will be amazed at the difference

Timebomb, unfortunately pipes are rusted out, but I was going for a 4-1 black of some kind ( Yosh, KR etc )looking to do some period correct stuff

Got it running before starting the teardown just to be sure motor tranny was up to snuff, drained tank, added fresh fuel, cleaned petcock, charged DEAD battery overnight , put new plugs in, and it fired up!!! Ran a little uneven down low, but ran through the gears well and motor sounds fine, this bike hasen't been started in years, I'm impressed with that.
