i cannot stand the lack of feel that you get from a hydraulic clutch.
probably just stems from my quad racing days .
not so critical on a streetbike, but when racing on dirt where you have to slip the clutch a direct cable gives you much more feel.so now days i just don't seem to be able to justify any extra effort to install a hyd.slave for the clutch.
now if i was having trouble pulling in some stout springs i might change my mind, maybe  .

I will have to try the hydro to understand what u mean by lack of feel. it seems to me that the feel is not necessarily in hand ? as long as there is a solid resistance in my hand. when i brake , the hand reacts to the feedback from all of my other senses. such as when my balls hit the tank, or when i feel the rear tire leave the ground. my hand does feel the resistance getting firmer as i squeeze,(provided by Hydraulics) but i cant say i feel that with a cable clutch.the clutch stroke seems to have the same resistance throughout the stroke. i suppose i just dont even pay attention to it because it is 1 of those things that i just do out of instinct. i'm sure this would be much more important on a drag bike where u need to slip the clutch, or as u say Leon during a mx type event.

I just had a hard time modulating his clutch on takeoff from a dead stop. Being as it was his $10,000 bike I didn't want to do the hooligan start, so I found myself stalling it because I couldn't feel the friction point very well. I usually don't use the clutch at all once I'm rolling.

What kind of $10,000 bike was that ? must have felt a little dorky stalling it . lol
it reminds me of when my clutch plates wore grooves into the hub and would disengage erratically. i can just see u looking around to see if anyone saw u. lol

the cable allows you to feel where the ragged edge of traction is and stay there, feeling the clutch springs quiver so to speak  .
no brain here it is all tendon feel, sounds like you feel with your hands, mark  .i feel with my finger tips.:cheer:
when i say racing quads i am not talking mx and knobby tires.were talking flat track and short track(oval),think sprint cars with no roll cages.dry slick track with a blue groove.

but i digress, sorry for the thread jack mike.

No worries Leon, I too am not a fan of the hydro clutch on the hayabusa's I weld up the factory inner hub to help the clutch from chattering when you leave hard off the line.

Today I started the painful task of picking points on a factory sprocket cover. First I clamped it to a milling machine and used the two 6mm bolts that hold the smaller clutch adjustment cover on the sprocket cover,I made them parallel with each other measured the distance between them divided that in 1/2 and called that my zero point.

Then I used a gauge pin that fit the factory holes perfectly and dialed out to each hole in the cover and marked down the x&y cordinats on the part with a sharpie. Then I used a pointer tool and picked a ton of points around the part again writing down the cordinats on the part. This should give me what I need to machine a cover that fits the bike like it belongs there.

Nice looking work RS, man I HAVE to get a small lathe & milling machine in my future. Here is my clutch mod. It was done by my friend who just happens to have a dyno also  . I am also running old school PM masters. The slave cyl is off of a GPZ900 (if I remember right) Regards Doug
