No problem, you will need to remove the bearings before powder coating. The grease would drip out and ruin the finish when they bake the powder. Replace the bearings with new ones, Z1E has them here. After leaving them in the freezer over night I just gently tapped the new bearings in using a socket as a driver. I've also heard that some people press them in using a piece of all-thread and some nuts and washers.
My project thread is "78 Z1R Winter Project" located here.
Good luck!

spend $20 and have a machine shop or welding shop press em out for yaCool project. As for the swingarm bearings, I believe that there is a special tool made for pulling them. I got mine out by hammering them from the opposite side. I ruined a socket extension in the process.

just remember once you powder coat a frame its very hard to fix screw ups and rock chips, unlike paint which is easy to have fixed

Repair by welding isn't feasible??
Might check current availability with Bike Bandit where these parts are listed.

If you are to use "Bike Bandit" call them before you "buy" anything, I was able to add several items to my cart, checkout, pay, etc...only to find out the part is not in their inventory..
