The bike looks sweet! I like how the gsxr1k front looks. Did you paint a chrome kerker? It looks like a chrome mufflers a couple posts back.

she looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the silver swing arm though, since everything else is black, it looks out of place.
maybee try putting some black electrical tape on it, then stand back and take a pic. that way u can look at it both ways side by side ??

Adam, yes thats the same pipe.ihad it ceramic coated.they sandblast it then stick it in this big vat of little balls to clean it inside and out then bake the coating on in oven.as far as swing arm color I was torn between the black finish and the stock looking zrx finish.its all powdered so ill probably leave it like this.still have to finish up brake lines and get my electronic guages.keeping a look out for a decent set of shocks for the rear.I did bid on a set of old fox shocks on e bay but went wayy over my price range.anybody got any good candidates laying around let me know.I found decent 83 GPZ head to replace the stock im running right now.just want to ride it awhile before aI tear the top end off it.cant wait to ride this thing.my daily ride is getting tired.

Wow, I just did the same thing last week on my bike. How far into the color did you get? Is it lighter, starting to see primer? I don't know how you could spot it and not have a line. If you have the paint, you're best bet would be to scuff it all and re-shoot the whole thing in color and clear over that. I feel your pain. I was going through all the same scenarios in my head last week. In the end you just have to suck it up an fix it right. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in soon.

Is the red just a straight base color, or is it metallic or pearl? What size is the spot you burned through? If you just barely broke through, you can get away with reshooting the clear over the entire tank. If it's a larger spot or it looks like you went through the base coat quite a bit, then you'll need to shoot some color. If it is a solid red and you feel comfortable with your spray gun management, you can just paint the area that you burned through and blend the color into the surrounding area, then clear the whole tank. If you are remotely apprehensive about blending a spot repair, it's better to shoot color over the entire tank and then clear.

Don't beat yourself up over it. If you've never painted before, it's alot harder than most people realize. I was thinking about it last night, and I can't ever remember a time that I really recleared a spot I burned through with shooting color color first. Your instinct is right to reshoot color and clear over the whole tank. That will give you your best finished product.

Finally got the painting done and the bike reassembled with the exception of my crap rear caliper. had the wiring all put together and bike was real rough at idle. checked some of the threads on ignition set ups and found advance mechanism was seized. cleaned everthing and put back together.also at the suggestion of a bud shortened my plug wires and redid the cap ends.did all this and started bike seemed to run alot better. still a little popping on idle but decided probably goo enough to road test.yeee haaa this thing is really sweet at about 1/4 to 3/4 throttle.pulls front wheel easily in first 2 gears.I think the pilot jet needs fattened up just a little.that and a combo of the old stock ignition.which is on my want list replacing it with dyna.to fully complete will need to get guages mounted and replace rear caliper. also just today got a pair of zrx shocks coming.Ill post some more pics when I get the shocks. overall very pleased with almost final completion of bike.thanks all members for inspiration and this very cool web site to search just about any issue ive been faced with.
