You sir have quite a few questions. The video is a cool way to show what you intend to do and point out your issues. Now, to some of your questions.

Starting at the front, the tab on the front of the steering stem is the original steering lock. While it can be removed, you may wish to utilize it for a steering stop. The sheetmetal bracing on the down tubes below the neck is important. I personaly would not remove it, and in fact, I suggest you add bracing to the frame. When you're ready, we will supply you with frame bracing information. The tabs behind the lower rear motor mount were originally for your center stand. You can remove those, but I would wait to see if you can use them to connect your shock linkage to it. Yes, you will have to fabricate a mount for the top of the shock in the open area behind the carbs. The original top shock mounts can go, as well as the bracing around them. The frame in this area is no longer supporting the load of the rear suspension. The tail bracket removal is your decision. If you remove them, you'll need to figure out how to bolt the tail back on, provided you are keeping the stock tail piece. Of course, these are just my opinions, and many others will weigh in with theirs ;)

Hey Mark, scooter was essentially asking what he could or could not cut off the frame, asking about bracing and the mono shock upper mount. He needs some guidance through the beginning of his build

FrankenZ: Thanks! I may have missed it but you didn't mention the lower shock mounts...I assume they and the two tubes that form a triangle in conjunction with the frame tube (third side of said triangle) can go...? It's the part that I comment on in the vid as having to go so the new swingarm can fit into position...

You're right scooter, I didn't. What you are refering to as the lower shock mounts are actually the passenger footpeg supports and exhaust/chain roller mounts. I believe you will need to remove these tubing sections to fit your swingarm. I know mine had to be cut off to fit mine, but I'm also reconfiguring my subframe :silly: You'll just need to figure out how to mount your exhaust and passenger pegs with the new swingarm. Its not a big deal, it just adds to your to-do list ;)

Welcome scooter. Looks like you are off to a good start. Thought that I would send you a couple of pics to help answer some of your questions in the video. Here's what I did for a steering stop:

Upper monoshock mount:

You can just about see my lower shock linkage mount in this picture. I can get a better pic for you if you need it. Basically you need to mount it on that lower crossmember where your centerstand tabs are. Porchev is right here. Leave those tabs on until you know where your mounts will be. Heck maybe you can reuse them.

You can also see one of my gussets in that picture. I have lots of frame brace pictures in my build thread. We also have some good reading for you when you are ready to dive into frame bracing.

testarossa: Thanks for the pics! Huge help! fork stop...am I seeing that right? You knocked off the original on your frame then fabed a new one that lines up to engage the stop knobs (?) on your upper triple tree. Were those knobs there originally? Did you fab that triple tree or add the knobs to it? I was thinking my tree was made of something that couldn't be welded....?

frankenZ: Thanks for clarifying and educating me:) I'm thinking I may not be needing rear pegs in the end...may go with a solo seat configuration
