It's temporary. It is actually working well like that. The shifts are positive, but admittedly I haven't ridden it much lately. Busy, busy.

Now that I got rid of my house guests from Thanksgiving, I can get back to work on the KZ. First project was to add my tread on the second footpeg. So I cut the basic shape from a piece of 22 ga.

Next, we'll mark a center line, and center punch a row of holes.

Now we punch some 1/8" diameter holes. Too easy.

Here's what it looks like before I welded it to the peg:

Guess what's next. Bend it around the peg, and put a spark to it.

Now that the rear master cylinder is visible through the cutout in the heel guard, I felt compelled to shine it up a bit.

Ok, lets slap it all back together. You'll also notice that I installed the last braided brake line.

Well after all that was done, I decided to fire it up without the baffle in the exhaust. Whoa baby, the old girl is loud with a straight pipe! I definitely like a little more volume, but I realize that it needs some back pressure. To that end, I have been working on building a straight through baffle like a Kerker pipe. I have scavenged the perforated tube from an old muffler that used to be on my zx-10r.

I'm currently waiting on the UPS man to bring my wideband O2 sensor with data logger this week. Once that gets here, I can get some real concrete a/f ratio to assist in tuning.
