When you get the bike sitting upright, check the clearance between the lowest point on the bike...usually the header pipes and maybe the frame or oil filter bolt (depending on oil filter set-up you are using). Lots of tracks have a minimum clearance and it is usually 3". Just so you don't show up and they check and won't let you run if you have less.

Wow the stance and attitude of that bike is mean! I don't usually like the looks od suspension swaps, and a stretched out old bike, but yours may have changed my mind. Good eye for symmetry. Even those wheels don't look out of place on it..! Does just adding the later susp lower it? Id like to learn more about being able to lower/ raise my suspension

Hey all,
It's been a while since I've been to the site, and I though it was high time for an update.
This summer, we fired up the bike again for the first time in about 2 years. Took it down the street and it rides straight and smooth!
Highly impressive(to me) considering how many changes have been made to the factory suspension.
Here are some of the bigger changes:
1.) Header/Tire clearance
We where unhappy with the clearance between the wheel and the header once we bounced around on it a bit.
A few options where considered...higher rate springs, fork extensions, raking the frame, lower profile tire.
Nothing really seems to be the right solution.
Sooooo...a section was cut out of the header between the flange and the first bend, then my friend welded her back up.
We also pie-cute the megaphone and angled it up and in a bit.
If you look, it is pretty obvious now where it was sectioned. If I ever get the money to replate or refinish the exhaust though, I think it will look factory.
I'm really happy with the way the exhaust fits the bike now...way better than it came from V&H!
2.)Gauge
We changed the tach to a Koso rx-WhatEverNumber. A local shop gave it to my friend...they replaced it because it has a wobbly needle. It works well and looks much cleaner that anything else I would have come up with.
We've also added rs34's from M357 on this site, moved the ignition switch to the frame, and rotated the calipers to the front to be different and stick with the "drag bike" theme.
I bought a ballistic battery to replace my factory battery.
So now the battery box if almost completely factory, and I was able to mostly re-use the stock electronics mounting brackets.
Koso tach:
Outside at last...after the first ride!

Got a couple more bits and pieces for Christmas.
It looks like it will be ready to ride this spring, after working on it for about 2 years!
Still need to sync the carbs and a few other things...I'll have to post some more pictures soon.

Just a quick update...I see it's been a year since my test ride.
I got it tagged, insured and rode it a few times this summer.
I thought about pulling it apart to update the wiring with better connectors and repaint the frame over the winter...but I was afraid it would take another 3 years.
So I am going to fix little things and keep it ready to ride for next season.
Here it is as it stands now:

I really like the build. Really don't recognize your screen name, but I'm sort of a new comer. Welcome back,
The bike has that pit bull look to it, like its got a mean set of teeth..
Sometimes the bike in its plainest form is most appealing.
You got a good one there........

I'm new here too. Love the build. It does have a sinister looking attitude

Thanks everyone. I've been around, I just don't post regularly.
Most questions around here are answered fairly quickly and correctly, so no need to stick my nose in. :side:
