i should of gone to kansas today to get some work done on it since i spent half my day yesterday jackhammering up a floor to replace a bunch of 4" cast iron, then the other half of the day putting new cast back in there and repouring the floor i gave myself a day off ! im sure some fiasco will come up before the day is over that i have to handle though!:S maybe this weekend ill go down there.i need to find a set of copbike triple trees 77-80 so i can start figuring out my front suspension .i want to run a 120 front tire so i need a slightly wider frontend to fit it in there, then ill have to widen an ltd front fender and have it replated.everytime you modify one part you have to change 3 other things that go with it!:S

Man, isn't that true. I'd change something and that would lead to something else, and that would lead to something else, and so on and so on and so on...

By the way - you can run a 120 on the front with a slight mod. I have a 3.5" wide rim on my stock MKII front end with a 120/70-18 tire with no problems. I had to flatten the fender mounting bolt holes and use flat headed allen bolts for the fender. I can post some pics if you're interested, just let me know.

Here's a picture - whether you want it or not!

Looks like were were posting at the same time. Anyway, you can see above that you have to cut the mounts flush with the forks. There is plenty of meat left for the fender bolts. I probably even have extra bolts if you need them. I used a plastic aftermarket fender, but I'm sure there are many that would work. If I can find some better pictures at home I'll add them.

Of course there are complications that I forgot to mention. You have to remove the calipers to take the wheel off or put it back on, then slide carefully work the calipers over the disc. That might be because of my 18" wheel as much as it being wider, not sure. Also, the fender can't be removed or installed unless the wheel is off. No room for an allen wrench in there. Other than that, it seems to work great once installed. You can smooth the area real nice after cutting and the powder coating or paint or polishing would pretty it up. I don't think that area shows when assembled anyway.

I know what you mean - I went 17 on the rear and 18 on the front just so I could get a matching pair of radials in the sizes I wanted.

There is a possibility that the HD V-rod tires might work. I think they might be 18 rear and 19 front, but don't quote me on that. Might be worth looking into though.

If you'd consider a 16" rear, there's a super deal on eBay that was just listed. It's a 5.5 x 16 rim, brand new for $75. I wish I liked the 16's but I just don't...

LinkToRim

Not sure if it will fit a KZ though - do all 40 spoke rims work or can they be drilled differently for different hubs??
