Re: After burn/Exhaust

I am going to throw my thoughts on loud pipes. We have a guy up the block from us whose bike is ungodly loud. He also insists on reving it when he is at every stop. I can literally hear his bike even when he is a mile away. Fine. Live at let live. However, I saw a new neighbor up the street talking with another neighbor and walked up to introduce my self. I was received very coldly and remarks were made about my loud bike going up and down the street. I can start my bike up in the morning next to the house with my wife sleeping next to an open window fifteen feet away and not wake her up. There is little chance the neighbors can hear my bike in the in house but I am now the a-hole to them. Louder pipe are ok up to a point but you also need to have some courtesy about noise levels when riding.

Correct primary size is more important then baffle/ no baffle for performance, and you can run open pipes all day long without a decrease in power if they are sized correctly, but removing a baffle from a muffler that was designed for it is usually a bad idea because you need the correct crosssectional area to maintain exhaust velocity. Any restirction is bad, you want a free flowing exhaust that is sized correctly for maximum exhaust velocity.

doesn't need to be a Kerker, but if you are after that i would find a used one on ebay. I have read that their quality has gone down hill lately. If i were looking for a sweet performance exhaust I would check out MotoGPwerks.

Ya I don't like it loud either. It seems like it has some kind of something in the pipe because it's not as loud as an open muffler would be. But I can see where something is missing from the inside of it when you look in the pipe
