Joe,

Good memories. Yes I went to Kennedy, I think the changed the borders shortly before I started. I had a 68 Chevelle my Sophomore year, Then in my Freshman year I bought a 67 Camaro RS which I still have. It has been garage stored for almost 34 years. After the bikes get running its my next item to bring back to life. Do you remember Telegraph and Joy road and Piccos taco's that's were I used to hang out. My next door neighbor had a 70 Camaro and we used to cruise nightly.

I had a friend that had a 68 Mustang fastback with a 429. Man the torque it had was astounding. It would launch so hard it felt like the seat back was going to give out. Good Days!!!

Your brothers car is a beauty!!!

STOP IT !!! STOP IT !!!
You Guys are Killing Me :S
Well,,, Not Really ;) What Great Memories :woohoo:
I grew up in Southfield, Southfield Lathrup HS1972 :side:
Spent all my free time on Woodward Ave, 7 nites a week. Grew up in the right place at the right time for street racing
Cars I had and raced, In no specific order. 70 Camaro350, 69 Corvette 427 tri power, 66 Chevelle 396, 70 TransAm 455 SD, plus buddies cars. 440 sixpack Challanger, Boss 302 and 429 Mustangs, 428 CJ Mustang, 401 AMX, And the list is much longer . Buddies dad was Head honcho at Car craft Garage which was forrunner to Ford SVO, Owner of MIS Speedways kids drove pace cars to our high school, and all the other kids dads were big shots at the big 3 so our school parking lot was filled with Balls to the Wall iron
Then I got into bikes
Started small before I was 16 , Then borrowed what I could from friends
First New bike was a Kaw 750 triple which was a wicked ride, Then Rich friends Dad bought his son 2 Kosman Funny and Top Fuel Drag Bikes which we held 9 records with over a 10 year period. Which lead to my 78 LTD Turbo . Ahhhhhh !!!
Never looked back from there. Want a race ????
I miss those days

Yeah, back then it was just good clean fun. Our parents and authorities didn't think so even tho they had their hot rods and rumbles. Now we're just old men on our old toys. They try not to show it but you can see it in the youngsters eyes. What a shame this bad ass machine is being wasted on this old fart. If they only knew.

@Street Fighter LTD: Pretty impressive cars you raced against Dave!

@MiKaw: Telegraph and Joy Rd!. That's it! That was home base. Thats where everybody parked to check out each other's cars. in the parking lot on the south west side shopping complex. Wasn't that a Koss department store or something like that?

Yep Telegraph and Joy was the hot spot. I belonged to the Camaro Club of Michigan. We were sponserd by Les Stanford Chevrolet in Dearborn. After or Friday meeting in the car lot of the dealership we would cruse to Tele and Joy. After everyone left Piccos we would head south down Telegraph to a Pizza place just north of Ford road on the west side it was and still is a blue building on a hill and hang out there till late. Those were the days. I remember one on the club cars was a all black 69 camaro with a blown 396, I can still hear the whining sound of the blower as he pulled in. Then he'd stop let the motor rpm drop and it would bunny hop from the blower surge and actually chirp the tires every time the blower would surge and the car would lunge forward.... MAN what a sweet memory...

I had a good friend that built the baddest ass big block you ever drove. He'd start the car and if you were standing next to it you could feel your guts vibrate inside your body.... All this and we were less then 20 years old... BACK IN THE DAY.... !!!

we had a wheel dyno! We all tuned are cars on it during the 7:00pm to 10:00 night classes.
I belonged to the North Bros Ford Drag Club... but my fun days was actually racing my motobikes at Milan Dragway with the club.

MissionKZ- Are you talking about the HFcommunity college off Michigan ave near the UofM and fairlane mall? I made it 2 years there before I thought working and making money was better then paying to go to school. I was there from the fall of '81 till '83 took mostly automotive classes. learned enough to get my Michigan mechanics license for chassis, brakes and transmission.

Got my Associates Degree from HFCC before moving on to UofM Dearborn. I found it to be a very high quality tough school in a nice area. Enjoyed it very much.

WOW. What a disappointment!!! I just run the frame and motor numbers on my Z. I guess its buyer beware. It turns out it a 1976 KZ 900 A4.

30 years ago when I bought it I was told it was a Z1. Well I believed the PO because of the Z1F frame number and the Z1E on the motor.
OH WELL... Status downgrade :(
