Any KZ's in Kentucky/Indiana area? was created by aphex
Hello all...

I'm looking for a bike and other KZ riders who might be located in the Western Kentucky/Southern Indiana area. I want to pick up a good runner but I'm having a difficult time finding many of these old KZ's here. (Louisville area, and 150-mile radius)

Anyone on the site know of a good garage or vendor where I can dig up a late 70s to early 80s KZ1000? Know of any cool riding clubs? I'm hitting dead ends with Craigslist and asking around town.

Thanks for any help you can offer...

I've only seen one KZ 1000 in the two years I've had Bossie back on the road in my area. Not many out there anymore.

Yeah it seems strange! I've heard a lot about the popularity of these bikes and kinda thought I'd find some enthusiasts around local garages or bike meets. Most of the KZ's in my area are really nice restorations for a pretty penny or total basketcases. I just recently moved here, and I see a lot of riders on the road but no community yet....they're out there, I'll just have to keep looking!

When I parked my bike in 98 I didn't know of "The great Z1 drain of the 90's". They were slapped up and sent over seas in shipping containers in mass. Japan, the Aussies, the UK, etc bought them up. I listed my Z1 on CL and got hounded by jerks wanting to pay pennies for it.

I finally got the money together to start fixing it up.

I pol;ished and painted things that hadn't been touched in 20 years.

Just for fun I listed it again for $30,000. All hell broke loose. Then I was flagged.

People were offering me $2000 for it saying I couldn't get any more so I posted again saying eat your heart out SLIME.

Had one guy call me and say he didn't want to buy it, he just wanted to know where I park it. I told him I have a 44 MAG lead pill waiting for him.

You can't buy this kind of thing. It has to be earned.

Unfortunately my Z1b isn't all original due to the wreck. I'm hoping on finding one that's been neglected to buy and switch parts to make a complete one. For now, it's what it is and I love it all the same. Can't go anywhere without turning heads.

Go over to the bar-restaurant off of I 71 at exit two, down by the water plant on Thursday night. Bike night . There is another place that is a bar but I was with friends and couldn't even tell you where it is. They also gather on Thursday night.
I live in Western Kentucky.
Buy a frame and start gathering parts.

The only bike I will have for sale is a 1979 KZ1000 ST. It won't be ready for another month probably.

BS aside, I'm west of Indy bout 50-60 miles. I have more than a couple running KZ/Ltd's for sale starting around $1,800, ready to ride and decent lookers.

Those are some nice pics, swest....is that Arizona? I recently moved here from Phoenix. I've been missing those desert views.

Roy-b....thanks for the tip! I'll have to check the place out. I have heard of a couple places that have bike nights but haven't nailed down where yet. That may be one of them.

Move Over, hit me up when you get in the area. If I have a bike by then we can search out some good twisties.

Indianapolis isn't too far from here...I have seen some ads in Chicago, Columbus, Fort Smith, Nashville, etc....just nothing right around the corner. It may be that I'll just have to travel a bit to grab one. What do you have at the moment, Les?

I'm in Sky Valley, about a hour and a half from the AZ border. Lots of open roads but very few twisties to play on.
From what I've seen, Les does good work and if he has a bike you'd like, maybe a bus or flight, a hotel room or two and a nice long ride, weather allowing of course would be the way to go. Better than buying from someone that didn't take care of it and or a total stranger.
Just my opinion.
