That is just one of 17 guns.. I am not just a collector, I am a hunter and Modern Survivalist. You'll see that in my bike when I am done with it.
I am putting the Boy Scout symbol on the bags, I am also an assistant Scout Master. Gotta love the outdoors.

Off of the Guns now.... Back to the build.
Over the weekend I was able to get the cylinders off and get them cleaned up.
Full story in shannonappleby.blogspot.com but here is a pic of the finished product... Now all I need to do is get them painted Gloss black with High Temp Engine paint.
They were pretty nasty and I had to scrape for 2 days on the gasket to get it down enough to even blast.

TIMEBOMB, I used Black Magic to blast it. No GLASS.
It cut through the stuff on those heads and cylinders like butter.
I'll definately use it again.

Alright, it's been awhile.
I have had issues coming up with all of the gaskets, bolts and such that I need cause I am cheap but I finally got everything I need, I think.
Taking apart the forks last weekend to replace the fork seals and the manual said to release the air pressure first. I couldn't find the air release valve on the right side that I was working with so I assusmed that it was just for the KZ1000 which is what the manual is for. WRONG... Got that little screw out and it shot all over me like a pi$$ed off skunk. Covered from head to toe with fork oil... Yeah, I know, Funny stuff.
Anyway, taking out the lower bolt for the left side fork tube I was in a bit of a hurry and excited to almost be done with that and hit that bolt with an impact in the wrong direction... Stripped out the allen head in an instant. Finally got that out with some specialty reverse screw tool that Kody had and now I am waiting on a replacement for that... I am going to slow down in the future.

Got my new seat from Saddlemen, Double Bucket seat.. Looks pretty cool.. Comfy too. I'll post photos when I have it on there.

I still have to put the cylinders, head and valve cover on the bike but I do have all of the valves back into it. Tom and Kody really helped me with that, I won't have figured that out.

It feels really good to be doing all of the work myself, they guys show me what to do and I do it.

The body has been painted with Herculiner Bedliner... I know, a KZ1100 with Roll on Protective Paint. Looks kind of wild though. Definately fits the Rat look that I am going for though.

I must say that Z1enterprises.com has saved my butt more than once on this project. Can't say enough about how great those guys have been over there.

Gotta run though, working on a video at J&P Cycles for our new book, HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR STAR motorcycle.

I'll get those photos posted real soon.

These are the pictures we really want to see (to remind us all of things we've done to ourselves in the past).

Getting closer....

Saturday we put the motor together, got the heads on , valved covers and let it set until sunday Afternoon...
I hooked the gas line up to the carberator and it took about 1 minute to fill them up, then it started spewing of the carbs... Looks like an entire carb rebuild.

I'll get the stuff for that this week, then try to get them together.
WE did get it to turn over a few times though. felt like the intake valves were holding open so we need to take the valve cover off and re-check the cam spacing.

Wisner Cycles got me everything to re-build the carbs on it so I did that last night after work and before my kids T-Ball game and the other boys Boy Scout meeting.
No gas flowing over now. 1 problem down, now just need to re-shim it tonight.

Left to do:
Shim Valves
New Battery
New Tires
Fork Oil
Brake Fluid - Clean out and re-fill then bleed.
Wire Tail Light and rear Turn signals.
Wire Headlight
Re-assmeble
Check all bolts, screws and fasteners.
