If you check out my blog, shannonappleby.blogspot.com, you will se some new up to date images of the bike. Wagonmaster69, I like the look of your bike, I am going to be painting mine black also, But I think I'll be using Truck Bedliner for it. It'll be tough and look unique. Also, I have added the photos with the new Headlight on it as well.

Just got an 82 KZ 1100, working to fix it up as my first bike.

You're not the first to do a bed liner covering that I know of. A lady in Kansas City did that to her KZ650.

I know I am not the first, I saw it on the bike of the guy that travels the National Guard Chopper around to events. He has a new Harley with the same coating, he showed it to me... Here is a photo of it.

Allright! Another KZ & HD type!
What kind of gravedigger do you have? 81 FXB myself.

As far as the KZ or HD thing, I am not really particular, I am just getting on two wheels, that is what counts.
Glad to hear you are a J&P Customer.. Have you seen our new website.. www.jpcycles.com

It has really changed, way easier to find the things you need.

Also, don't forget to start following my blog. I am keeping it up to date as best as I can.

aw dangit, bill why ya gotta call me out?
i was hopin no one would notice when i posted that:laugh: .
i must preface this statement with"i still have my first streetbike"which was and is a 1978 kawasaki kz1000 z1r.my preference is KAWASAKI.my dad started out on harley's and went to jap bikes when he could get one stock that would already outrun his stroked panhead.fast forward he has lived a nice fast life and want's to slow down, sooo when i am 15 he starts rebuilding the knucklehead that he started collecting parts for when i was born(dec.23,1970).me and my brother helped him build it.he then had a succesion of bikes kawi's,triumphs, nortons, harley's and other lesser known brands.we enjoyed them all and he ask me and my brother "you guy's wan't to build some harley's".we are like sure,so we start.me with a 1958 h-d dovetail frame from a burnt bike.so i built my bike with an 88 ci.shovelhead engine, dresser four speed tranny,5.5 gal fatbob tanks, full fl style front and rear fenders, sturgis custom wheels, samson exhaust,fl(moosehead)front nacelle.
i found the harley community(at least around me)to not be very helpful or encouraging to a young guy trying to build his own harley.i did not know anything about computers at the time,so seeking help on the internet was out.i have built it to about 90 percent, completion and had so many bad dealings with"harley guys" that i could not look at the shovel for 10 or 11 years(yes i hold grudges)without getting mad about how someone had tried to screw me or tried to keep me from getting the parts i wanted.
i have since let all the bad feelings go and still like all kinds of motorcyles(even harley's)and from time to time i get the urge to finish the shovelhead.i will not part with it and enjoy using it for dining room decor:laugh: .so the shovel and the knuckle sit in my dining room, until dad get's out(fed d.o.c)or i get the motivation to finish the shovel.so there is the long sorted story about leon's shovelhead.
ya just had to ask didn't you now bill :P .
here is a pic of how the shovel sit's now,

You aren't the only KZ/HD rider. Kody Wisner is the Master Builder here at J&P Cycles, he builds the giveaway bikes for Easyriders magazine each year, as well as those really cool bikes you see on the cover of our catalogs and the Raffle bike for the National Motorcycle Museum each year.
His main two bikes he has are an 81 KZ1000 with a sidecar on it and a brand new 08 V-Strom.

He always says, "I work on bikes all day for a living, I don't want to work on them when I get home."

I find it pretty funny. He is a little guy with tattoos and has built some bikes for the World Championship Bike Builder competitions in Sturgis and placed in the top 10, but he still loves his KZ. He said he has had several of them, they are his favorite bike.

Check out his blog at www.wisnercycles.blogspot.com/
