Leon:

KZ, shovels, and 45's?! Maybe we're related. The .45ACP is another of my passions.

Well, here, just so you don't feel all alone, here's a good pic. Yes, I know, it is not a shovel. My FXB and Z-1 are for fine summer day riding only, this one in the below pic is the bike (looks a lot different now, though) I rely on for grunt work.

And this is a good, small HD oriented forum. Very friendly, and we LOVE shovels:

wildsplace.freeforums.org/?EBTX_notify=logout

It actually started out as a complement to the Tech Forum on the JP Cycles website. Some of us wanted a place where we could do not only tech stuff, but also some friendly bantering, joking, etc. It had some growing pains, went through a couple iterations, but is a good place now.

Yes, they know I also ride a Z-1. Doesn't bother them atall.

Hey, Shannon, I'm about 20 minutes away from you in CR right on Hwy 13. We'll have to get together and ride sometime this summer. I love coming up to visit the museum at least once a year.

KZTEE,
I live 2 blocks from the museum, I also do the videos and some photography for the museum.
Getting together to ride would be nice. Like I said earlier in this thread, this is my first bike, so I won't be riding real fast. Baby steps.
The bike will be pretty cool when I am done, but more functional than anything.

shannon, checked the blog today.looks like you have made good use of that 20 minutes extra.you have been busy cleaning, are you going completely through the engine?

wpbill, relation parhaps.i love the shirt in the picture.so about your lil h-d forum, are they fairly helpful with technical stuff(like oil line routing, what goes where?)and some other things like some bare bones wiring and maybe pushrod adjustment?i have factory service and parts manuals for my shovel but the service manual is the most confusing manual i have ever tried to read, and harleys are not that technical.they do have some odd(to me)intricacies tho.

keep up the good work shannon.

Thanks Leon,
I actually got about 2 hours on it last night, and the fact that the shop is only about 400 yards from J&P Cycles, I am taking my lunch breaks there if I am not out in my garden otherwise.
I am not going throught he whole engine, Kody said that is more than I want to get into right now.
I think he just doesn't have the time to focus on helping me with it. He is getting pretty busy with 4 bikes in to be fixed now.
It only took about 20 minutes to blast the heads lastnight but it took me 45 minutes just to tape it off and then re-tape it after I noticed the hole in the tape.
I won't get much done tonight, as the blog shows, my wife doesn't know about the bike so she is getting upset that I am spending too much time with Kody, she asked if he was my new BFF.. (Best Friends Forever) according to girls nowadays.
Anyway, thanks again for the props and I will keep updating as things get done.
I think I am going to go ahead and paint the head and cylinders since I will have it all apart. Then I'll sand down the fins and let the aluminum shine through. That shouldn't take too long and only about $8.00 for the paint from J&P Cycles. $6.00 with my employee discount.
