Hey Scumbag! (gotta love that name :P )

Where do you teach snowboarding? I'm hoping for a great season here in CO but right now there's no snow :( . I'm really bummed 'cause I have a condo already at Breck for Thanksgiving. Looks like I'll be taking my rock board.

My daughter's getting her degrees in English and Secondary English Education too at University of Wyoming.

KZLuke,

What do you consider Upstate NY? I always found it interesting that the more south one goes in NY the more south people consider "upstate". Growing up in Rockland County, people in Long Island considered that Upstate. Going to undergrad way up in Clinton County I learned what "Upstate" really is.[/quote]

Talman, I was born and raised in a very small town near Binghantom NY. Currently I live in the Ithaca area. About 45 miles south of Syracuse. So that is what I consider upstate. With all the influx of "city" people coming into the area I find it dire to point out that upstate is not any where near NYC.
I went to college in Jefferson County which is very upstate. I also spend alot of time in the northern parts of the Adirondacks. Again upstate.

I agree with you. I don't think of central NY when I think of upstate only because I spent so little time there as opposed to Eastern "Upstate", but it's definitely still upstate. Of course, I moved to NJ out of love (for a woman, not the state). As such pretty soon I'll be considering Poughkeepsie upstate!

Started driving in 1969 for Uncle Sam. Started delivering garments in Manhattan in 1979.
I wanna quit but i can't make any money doing anything legal and i don't aim to do any thing illegal.
I mostly try and find the scenic route.
This old rig will out pull most cagers.
The boss gave me a load this week that paid me $0.97 a mile. I probably made more than the owner of the truck.

i'm midway ny.
rochester is about 90 miles east of buffalo, right on lake ontario.

most new yorkers call anything north of new york city upstate.

btw, being an auto tech (mechanic) really stinks in the winter, snow and slush falling on your head and down your back.
but i love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

good thread!
i guess as long as we all love our jobs it's all good.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

Being (originally) from just North of NYC I never had to deal with the cold temperatures of the "real" upstate". Fast forward to 1989, Plattsburgh, NY. I see all these cars with wires hanging out of the front grille. Engine block warmers.....who knew?

I have been a lawyer in private practice here in San Francisco for 28 years. I do both litigation and transactional matters, a combination which is rare these days. I have been a partner in some of the largest law firms in the world, but 4 years ago I ditched that in favor of opening my own shop (again). I am at the point in my career where I only take the cases I want for the clients I want to work with.

Everybody complains about lawyers, until they need one.

I enjoy the practice of law -- every day is different.

As a younger man I worked in steel construction (building tanks for oil refineries in NJ and NY), then I joined the US Navy and became a nuclear power plant operator and instructor for 6 years under (way under) Admiral Rickover. Between that, and many years as a youngster learning by the side of my father (the smartest shade-tree mechanic I have ever known), I learned enough to tear down and rebuild my KZs.

PREVIOUS KZs: 1980 KZ750H with 108,000 miles; 1980 KZ750E with 28,000 miles; and KZ750H street/cafe project, all sold a few years back.

This is what I do for fun, not for work. It is art, with a little engineering thrown in.
