Detailing emblems

What is a good paint that will stick to factory tank and side cover emblems? Detailing the black sections on my Z1-R emblems, need a good paint that will stick to the plated metal. Anyone with experience in this out there? Thanks.

I use 1 Shot paint. It self levels and looks good. Im not sure what sheen the factory emblems are but the 1 shot is glossy.

I used duplicolor engine spray paint for the black & testors model kit paint in the little jars for the color. My method is to use grease to mask, applying it with my finger. just touch the grease, then touch something clean to remove the excess, then lightly pat the areas to be masked. It's kind of tedious, but the emblems are so small it doesn't take long. They came out pretty good & look better than the pics which have a lot of light reflecting off of them. I think I used a low gloss black.

I think the original Kawasaki black was a satin sheen. SEM makes a black satin trim paint that brushes on nice and is designed to stick to smooth aluminum trim.

Thanks. I've never looked into SEM paint for motorcycle stuff, but I did use their bumper coater on the exterior plastic trim & rear bumper cover on my old Ford Escape and it came out great & it has been very durable.

Ok, cool> I can get started on this now. My emblems look like an albino deer or something without the black outline on them.

Got all my repro emblems new in Aluminum top quality, 2x tank and 2x side cover for 60 Euro.

Call them and get a return label. 100% money back guarantee. I got one from Z1E in 13 and it was gold. I didn't want to go through the hassle so I cut the K off, sanded it with #600. It is chrome underneath. I repainted the black but didn't clean the chrome borders. Oh well, GOOD TO GO. :lol:
