Do you have a picture showing your throttle cable mount assembly? Weird yours doesn’t hit, and I need around 1/4” of clearance.

It may be the model of carb your using, mine are VM26 off a '78 KZ1000 A2
These are the only other pics I have, sorry they are not the greatest :

As you can see I had the air box and rubber ducts hooked up in these pictures.

Looks like they are Z900A1 with the angled cable bracket mount which may be the problem,

Zed,
Thanks for that Ebay link to the Flexoid gaskets. What thickness did you go for, and what was your logic for choosing it? Really nice install btw!

Thanks,

Ian

Doesn't need to be thick for those flanges , around 0.5mm .
I've been using Flexoid for over 50 years, you will find many quality afermarket gaskets made from it too.

So had an old set of 24mm carbs and I am trying to mount the 26mm on the backing plate with the throttle setup for clearance. Everything appears will work, but the throttle pulley is a different shape. The bolts into the shaft go in at an angle on the 24s and perpendicular on the 26s. So I tried putting the 26mm pulley on and it does not have the big relief cutaway so it hits after opening the throttle about 20%. Looking for suggestions on either modifying these to work, but I am hesitant as I cannot find aftermarket replacement pulleys online.

Did you look into using the 24mm throttle shaft?

The 24mm throttle slides are mounted on an angle to match the pulley, and the 26mm perpendicular to match the pulley. Therefor all of the shaft holes are aligned. See attached pictures, hopefully it’s clear.

Something has to work. Can you use the shaft and linkage arms from the 24 and bolt them to the 26 slides.

So I looked at the throttle slides and they are completely different and are not interchangeable. Looks like this goofing around was all for none, and I do not want to start modifying original parts. I am looking into ordering some 26mm x 1/4” carb spacers to push the carb away from the head.

Different is ok. What needs to be the same is the 3 holes in the slide. The two threaded need to be same spread. If they are just bolt the 26 slides to the 24 linkage.
