I'm starting a new topic regarding my oil pressure, I don'tt want post the diagnostics in the tool section.

As far as the the gauge went, I decided to get everything from McMaster Carr.
M18x1.5 to 3/8 NPT reducer, to a 3/8 NPT to 1/4 NPT bushing, to a 1/4 NPT 100 PSI air filled pressure gauge. About $25 total.

I could have probably gone to a lower psi gauge, but I don't think the 28-36 psi spec at 4k rpm is too low on a 100 psi gauge.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think running at high rpm, all the pressure gauge is doing is telling you what your pressure relief spring is set at. Usually even if your main bearings were badly stuffed, you'd be getting low oil pressure worst when idling. Does it sound rattly when the light is on?

Yes I might be wrong here, I think pressure at idle is the most important number here.

FYI I got 25 psi at idle and 45 psi at 4k, cold engine with 20/50 oil, on my 43k '82 750R1. I used a gauge just like yours.

I think they're both important, unfortunately only the 4k pressure is specified.
To me the bike sounds rattly in general, but I have no experience with overhead cam flat tappet engines.

Since replacing the missing o-ring I've been able to ride for over an hour without the oil light coming on at idle.
