The red bike in its glory days was gorgeous. It still is.
Plus, KTM seems to do alright with orange frames.

But let’s keep this going guys, he’s thinking about it.

100% Black frame !

I’m with you on black, colour matched frames is too 1980’s IMHO

I cannot find any pics
I have seen black frames with one coat of color scheme matching KANDY on top.
You don't see the color, it just glows a little more like an high definition Black with a deep undercoat.
But so you know I'm a bastard on color (not a stock paint job at my house,on anything except the wifes daily) as my z chop frame shows.

I think with chop's, trikes and any other "full custom" build the rule book goes out of the window. Especially with most chop's the frame is the dominant feature rather than the bodywork

I would vote for black, but if you want to stay as close as possible to the original black....it wasn't gloss.  And it wasn't semi gloss.  Somewhere in between.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Time for an update - I have been busy online finding stuff.  The wait continues on the de-chroming (they were still waiting on chemicals)
I have got the complete gasket set, valve guide seals and the  later model brass neutral switch (which fits the trans cover perfectly)
I have ordered a separate Cometic MLS head gasket for the larger sleeves/pistons.
The Mrs got me a new seat for my birthday !
Still in the process of moving stuff around in the workshop, need to get the bike stand in a position where the bike can get up and down the ramp when its rolling.

I usually scrub them with brake cleaner till you can see the machining grooves.

I spent a few hours wet sanding the Akront rims to get rid of corrosion marks and grime, finishing with 1200 and then polish.
They are looking a bit fresher than they did before !
Also got the Cometic MLS head gasket that will suit the 72.5 mm pistons.
