KZ1000A1 Spare Parts Project

My first kz was the 77kz1000a I still have and 10 years ago i started to Resto Mod it. Since then I bought around 28 others motorcycles and my 77 is still waiting.
 

Making some progress. Stripped the forks down and got the guys who are welding the restomod frame to polish the lowers. I would have had to do it by hand and I hate polishing... I'm slowly moving away from "I have to do everything myself" to just handing off the jobs I don't like to people that can do them in a fraction of the time. 
I know the lowers aren't supposed to be polished, but I like the look of it and they're easier to keep clean. I have no problem with easily reversible deviations from stock.

 


Got a few more used cockpit parts and found a nice Giuliari seat that was too good to pass up.

 

 

 

Got the first load of zinc plated parts back. I know the chain adjusters are supposed to be painted but I just can't understand why they did that.

Sorry, I meant the stoppers that go into the end of the swingarm. They are usually painted despite the fact that the adjuster screws sit right on the paint.

Yeah, they do a pretty good job. Got most of the stuff for my 750 done by the same guys, including rechroming the left side of the exhaust (rhs was NOS).

So I sorted the zinc-plated stuff into bags today and I ended up with a few extra bits. I'm pretty sure I plated the M10 engine mounting bolts from my old hornet... They are the ones with the flanged heads third and forth from the left on the photo.
Then I ended up with 3 M8 x 16 bolts and 2 M8 x 14. I figure one M8 x 16 for the horn and the other two longer ones probably came from the lower right engine bracket - although these are supposed to be M8 x 18. I know I had those screws when I mocked up the restomod so they must have been replaced with shorter ones at some stage. There should be 4 M8 x 14 left for the muffler brackets... I'll check tomorrow to make sure the muffler bolts aren't still screwed into them and actually went out to get plated. Anywhere else these could go? Gotta get better at documenting things 

That just leaves a couple of random nuts and these 8mm washers. Anyone know where I pulled these off?

 

I noticed the cupped serrated washer but figured you swapped them in for the front foot pegs. I don’t know what they might be for but they are not anything I have seen in a Kz hardware lot.


EDIT, As for the “T” blocks that go in the rear swing arm. I never figured that one out either. I think black is correct. But if you search on NOS you will find them zinc. I left mine in the swing arm when it was powder coated so I went with that. 

I think they may have come out of the electrics somewhere. I did think about the footpegs, but there were only the two right hand pegs on the bike when I got it.
