Finished! Got everything done last week. I got the MOT done on Tuesday and the bike registered the next day. Haven't had the weather to go for a decent ride but should be able to get one in at the start of next week before the registration runs out for winter (reg from April to October).
Have put it up for sale to try and pay for the kitchen. These things seem to be worth a bit more in Europe so it's not going cheap. If I don't get the asking price I'll just have to keep it ;) At least I can tell the better half that I tried!
The problem with the carbs ended up being three blocked idle jets. I was sure I checked them and cleaned them out but I guess I may have skipped a step. All good now, though - it purrs like a kitten when idling.
Here's some photos from out in front of the MOT testing station:

WOW, what a nice bike you have build Calum.
A new kitchen sounds expencive, so good luck on the sale.
In my opinion i would keep it, (new) kitchens are not my (male) priority but your dear woman is the boss in your house!!!

I would say, your bike desteny has.....

Stunning work once again Calum, you should have no problem commanding strong money for this one (maybe Slmjim and Z1BEBE can hook you up with their Japanese broker who seems to pay well for top bikes ??)

Great job! Congratulations! I still can't believe you managed to find a '77/'78 exhaust. They're very difficult to find nowadays.

Back in the saddle and loving it! KZ1000A1

Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with the results, and secretly hoping nobody wants to buy it!

@Scirocco: don't worry, I'm getting a new workshop out of it as well...
