The bolt head wasn't even there. The shop will tig the case and retap. He said about a week so they have the top case. It burns my eyes to see the fkup so I didn't take a pic. :silly: R

Smells so bad it burns my eyes.  How does the tranny look? I had a broken bolt I ignored for 20 years. Had to grind a extractor to fit inside a locator pin. A pucker moment trying to pull it out. What kind did you try to use?

Tranny looks great. Shift forks and dogs and nearly unworn. The case plain bearing surfaces have some discoloration and minor wear, but nothing that is critical. The output shaft is looking good too. There was a circlip dangling from the kick start shaft. haven't looked into why yet, but assume it was not assembled correctly. The extractor was a cheapo and I was able to get it out. The bigger extractor I used is one that broke the bung. R

Yep. The cases and engine paint is actually in very good condition albeit greasy. I have to wash it and the the frame to get a good look. I am think I will spend on paint for the tank, side covers and hard bags. I like a deep midnight blue, but I have a guy that will do a good job on dacron flat black too. That paint is way durable. I also have a powder coating shop that does that ultra hard ecoat, so we'll see. I figure to hit misc, parts switch gear, mounts etc with the powder coater. Lots of aluminum to sad and polish. i didn't pay a lot for this bike so my budget is around 1000$ - God willing  R

Po's suck. I bought some left hand drill bits. I bent one. That's not supposed to happen. They are gold like cobalt bits but made in CHINA. My guess only the tips are hardened. Another eBay use once and throw away kind of thing. I would like to source some made in USA reverse bits. I'd gladly pay double or triple for the one bit I need than a whole set of CHINESE JUNK.
