How's this for a clanger. Opened up the carb to see what jetting they had been running and hello...........no pilot jets. All the pilots had been bunged up with silicon (which has now turned into some nasty snot like goo). Weird! Also cracked the motor open.............haven't had a chance to pull the valves yet to check out the head properly but the barrels are in good nick. Bottom end is a bit rugged though, lots of play in the crank. I have a B1 1100 motor that is a little better so might have to do a bit of mix and match with the two engines.

There are supposed to be little plugs there right? They just make their own lol. It is amazing what you find on old bikes.

I'm currently working on an old xs750. The PO couldn't get the front fender off...so they cut the wiring harness with garden sheers then electrical taped it back together. Things like this just blow my mind.

Had a few damaged fairing panels which I dropped off to the plastic welders to get sorted. Got them back today and well stoked, job is very tidy. Clever buggers.

Now that the frontend is fitted and good to go, time to sort the back. Onto the swingarm first. Can't really get much else done until it is in, sitting correctly, and bolted up. The ZZR1100 swingarm has a 19mm axle which is bigger than the standard the old GPZ one. I want to use the GPZ one as it will be a heck of alot easier than trying to sort out the frame to accept the larger axle. I dived into my box of random spacers to see what might work. Funny thing is I found a spacer from god knows what that was perfect fit and size for the right side of the swingarm. Seriously, it was the exact specs for what I needed! Very jammy. On the left I found a spacer with the correct internal specs, just had to give it a bit of love on the lathe to get it to fit into the left side. Fitted it up and straight in and bolted up. Spot on! If anyone out there wants the spacer specs just shout out. Onto getting the linkage and shock fitted correctly tomorrow and then onto the rear rim.

Because I just can't help myself I had to start polishing one of the rear axle adjusters in the swingarm. I love the look of this style of adjuster which is why I chose the ZZR1100 swingarm as it looks very similar to the original GPZ one but is bigger enough for the new rear rim. Also would have gone with an early Triumph triple one as well but couldn't track one down for the right price.

EDIT: Larriken, on the first page I read that you said the 1100 foot pegs fit the 750 and vice versa, can I just confirm with you that's true? Any modifying needed at all etc? I've started to compile a list of parts that swap to the 83'-85' GPz's and wanted to confirm. Is that the passenger pegs or the rider's pegs or both do you know?
