So I've had my little project bike over a year now and it's still quite away off going back on the road.

It is actually two bikes that I have made the best from both with, but not being a mechanic or have a good knowledge of the workings its defiantly been testing me to the max.

I've got it turning over via the switch now which was a right head ache, but now I'm trying to get it to run. This is where my problem lye's. I have no idea where the fuel lines go or in which order they should connect.. I have had to do my own lines as its a non standard tank (see pics)

Could anyone shed some light on where the fuel lines go and also the set-up of their carbs as I'm sure mine is missing a few bits which obviously won't help..

I guess the fuel tank has a manual fuel valve with one port?

Fuel line -->> fuel Tee -->> between #2 & #3 carburetors.

Vacuum ports -->> engine side -->> kinda high up on the carb body -->> cap each port with a rubber automotive vac cap.
Z1Enterprises.com carries the vac caps. The vac ports are for synchronizing the carburetors.

Vents -->> probably located kinda midway up the carb body sort of above the fuel delivery circuit on the carbs.
Attach tubing to the ports & leave the ends open to atmosphere --- typically routed behind the engine.
Some carbs have vent Tees between carbs 1-2 & 3-4.

Carb overflow tubing -->> connect tubing to the ports at the bottom of the float bowls -->> route behind the engine.

You forgot the mufflers. Glad I don't live anywhere near you. Between that and the pods means you need to do some drastic rejetting before that bike is going to move down the road. A jet kit is the obvious solution, but not sure they tune them for open pipes.

They don't; and not only will the open pipes reduce the engine's power due to lack of back pressure and zero scavenging effect, they also will lead to problems with the exhaust valves as cold air whacks the red hot valves. So even if he gets the thing running the neighbors won't have to tolerate the noise for very long. :laugh: Ed

There are insertable mufflers but the design would never produce the power a stock set up would. To trade performance for the Brat look always made me ask, WHY. :unsure:
To each his own. :lol:

Jardine mufflers ..... probably still loud, but better than nothing. :)

Frame bracing. cross bracing may need to be welded to the frame at the rear, under the seat.

From the underwhelmingly positive response so far,you might think this is not the site for hardtail chops!! However, a kz750 is a kz750 is it not? Everyone has their own ideas .Which is fantastic. My build has a frame,engine and fuel tank from a KZ ,everything else is from other bikes and so far Ive had nothing but positive feedback.
(I used to read 'Back street heroes' years ago and always wanted a chop. That was in the days when everyone and his dog was riding an LC or a GPZ.)
Everyone here is building the bike They want and so should you.
As far as the pipes go,Im sure you can sort something out. Race bikes have a minimal baffle and noisy they may be but they run like stink!
There are things called Db Killers. Have a look at them. Back in the day,I remember people stuffing wire wool into the pipes as a cheap solution.
For carbs info,try this place;
www.wgcarbs.com//index.php?option=com_co...sk=view&id=Itemid=86
Other general info and parts for Kawasakis
www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanager/
and for parts and parts diagrams have a look at
www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-1982-kz750-e3_model15512/partslist/

Also have a look around this site as there are plenty of people from England. You might find someone in your area who would pop over and help out.
'Practical Sportsbike' and 'Classic motorcycle mechanics' are both monthly British publications and are worth a read,they also both have a facebook page which might be worth looking at as there is a lot of combined knowledge from the readers.
Have at it and good luck with your build.I hope you can get it on the road and enjoy hardtail riding in all its spine shattering glory.

George wired is a perfect suggestion for the carbs. His work will assure the bike never hits the road to annoy people with the noise.:)

But they do not simply chop off the pipes with a hacksaw and lose the proper scavenging effect, backpressure, and length required to increase power and prevent valve damage. ;) Ed
