Nice one! Picked up a KZ Corbin gunfighter on eBay for 40$. Gunn play with it when it arrives then start the fab on the P seat.

Started in earnest on the engine as all the required parts have finally come in. Had to order new valves, check out the photo of the inlet valve. All four were absolutely poked. Always surprises me how these old girls still keep trucking even when all the bits are flogged to within an inch of their life lol! Head has gone off to the machine shop to get sorted and once it's back it will be assembly time. Exciting!! (well for me anyway)

Steve

They are Moriaki pistons that were made for race kits. They are standard bore size so as to keep them under 1000cc for the race classes but with high comp. I am matching them up to GPZ1100 cams.

I ran my old street racer 1971 Triumph Trident Triple with +1mm over bore 12:1 Pistons. Really a challange. Even with a trick ignition system and Ford Mustang coils, it ran hot with spark knock unless I ran 100 octane aviation grade fuel.
The center cylinder overheated and crapped out twice within 5,600 miles. Eventually pulled them and used 9.5:1 Pistons, then it ran perfectly happy and much fun.

Funnily enough I have pondered it a few times for a bike running on pump gas. I have extra base gaskets at .04 and .02, on hand just need to sit down with the calculator and have a work out.

Just remember that as you do that, it alters the cam/valve timing due to the distance between cam sprockets, fixed number of cam chain pins and crank sprocket, all relative to crankshaft degrees of rotation. Geometry
