Puffiin ,and anybody else, very sorry for my slackassness. I have been well and truely stuck on the back end.Its been doing my head in. Also, my flaptop died and Im using a tablet which is also doing my head in.
Anyway, the good news ismy flaptop isfixed and I should get it back ina few days AND I think Ive found a back wheelthat will cut the mustard.I found a Bandit600 on the local fleabay thing at a good price, with disk and sprocket and all the bells and whistles, so Im just waiting on that
Fingers crossed, with the spocket carrier shaved down a tad, Ill be able to run everything centered with an acceptable 5mm clearance either side of the 530 chain, while wearing a nice and sexy 160 tyre.
Then again it could all end in tears like the Gsxr1000 and Zxr400 wheels! Ill let you know as soon as I get the wheel and the flaptop.
Other than that I got my steering head bearings from allballs and today I cleaned up the workshop

So,things are finally happening again. The Bandit wheel is looking good.
I had some spacers made up to fit the 20mm axle into the huge 30something hole in the gixxer swingarm.

I bought a handfull of washers from the local hardware shop to fill it all out

and got the wheel fitted and locked up

With a little adjustment, its all evened out and the wheel is CENTERED.

Its taken a long time and a lot of trial and error to get to this point but It looks like its all going to work.
Now,I can get the chainline measured up and have the sprocket carrier turned down.
Ive been looking at a 525 or 530 chain set. This should come with a 9mm (+ - ) thick rear sprocket (though I still have to confirm this before I get anything cut)
So,based on that,this is where I am at the moment;

and this is where I want to be

If I get 13,5mm turned down off the sprocket carrier, that should put it right where I want it and give equal clearence either side of the chain.Twixt the chain and tyre and twixt the tyre and frame downtube. Again I have to check the width of the 525/530 chain but I think there'll be no problem. And the Bandit sproket carrier has a lot more meat on it than the ZXR400 that I tried before.
So the next thing is a chain and sprocket set.If anyone has any info on chain/sprocket thicknesses, it would really help,as so far,i can only find diameter/tooth count dimensions.

P.S. as I said earlier,I had problems with my flaptop. Its fixed now but I lost a load of the later build photos. The earlier ones were backed up thankfully.

Picked up the sprocket carrier today.12mm off was the final measurement. So its done. I threw it in the bike for a quick look and it seems good. Ill put the sprocket on it and throw the chain around it to be sure but first I need to shorten the sprocket bolts and extend the thread a bit. Ill do that at the weekend.

530 chain and sprocket set

Ive also started cleaning up the ZX9R forks. Got new seals and dust covers and stripped everything down.

Ive just got to get some autosol to clean up the chrome before i put them all together again.
Ive also painted the bottoms a nice satin black but I havent got a photo yet as I only put the last coat on a couple of hours ago.
Im not into shiny stuff on the bike but I wanted to clean some bits up and got carried away with the polishing wheel. Anybody know how to polish aluminium to a matt finish?

and I got a good deal on these things from one of my local bike shops.

I thought they were a bit blingy but he let me take them home to try them and they look pretty good.No idea how or where Im going to mount them, but thats for later. My goal still is to get a rolling chassis and Its getting closer to happening.
Next up are the shocks mounts and the shocks.Im looking at a set of basic YSS. shocks.
