Thanks Steve.
I bought a couple of different vinyl type fabrics last week and roped my better half in on the sewing machine. It was a lot of work (best part of a day) Me measuring it up and cutting the patterns and her doing the sewing. I was suprised at how well it came out. It looked great, better than I hoped.Unfortunatley it didnt fit!!! There was no stretch in the fabric and we couldnt get the contours fitting properly. Bugger!!!!
Im going to head into town tomorrow and see if I can get a more stretchy vinyl and try again.

If anyone has any advice, tips, tricks whatever about sewing up a seat cover, please let me know. We need all the help we can get on this.

Been a while since my last post.Things are NOT going well. Dark days are upon me,my KZ friends!
Ive been kicked out of my basement!
A letter came to the house (all the appartments) from the building owners, saying that it is not allowed to have motorcycles in the basement due to the fire hazzard!
I am GUTTED. This totally fucks me up.I have no idea what Im going to be able to do and,to be honest,Im still in shock about it.

Anyway,Its not the end of the build.I cant and wont let that happen.I have too much invested in this already.
Time, money, effort.Blood, sweat and tears. But it might be a while till the next post!

Man that BLOWS! So sorry to hear about that and hope a solution presents itself soon! I like the option of the storage locker, but what about any friends or family around that would loan or rent out some garage or basement or shop space? I have heard of some shops (normally smaller family run) letting you use or rent space to do your project there. Just spitballing but hope at least one of these ideas pans out for you!

Well,Its a funny old world.Miricales do happen.Ive got a place.5minutes from the house.Fully ventilated.Plenty of space.Some big machines to play with.Ive also got a 2 month deadline!
Bike is moved.Crates of parts are moved,Unctions are moved and most of my tools and other odds and sods are moved and today I made a start. With nobody breathing down my neck,Im free to make as much noise and as noxious smells as I want. Its fantastic!

First job of the day was the exhaust hanger.I wasnt happy with the one I made so I though I would play with that. The 2 mystery bolt holes under the frame turned out to be very handy.I drilled out some steel strip and bolted it on these points, bent it over and made a alu strap to go round the pipe and bolt onto the steel strip

Very simple and looks good.Happy with that.
I also had a look at the chain guard. The one that came with the GSXR swing arm.Theres no way Im going to get it to fit. With the twin shock set up,Id have to hack too much out of it ,there would be nothing left,so Ill have to figure out something else. Maybe some alu plate again.
Anyway thats it for now. Like I said. 2 Months!!!!

Yup.Im well happy about it. Things are moving. Got the wheels and the swingarm out to send to the powdercoaters. Expected to take 2 weeks (+ - ).Went on the interweb to price up all the bearings and seals Ill need to put them together again and nearly had a heart attack. So,I went off to a local bearing suppiiers yesterday and got most of what Ill need at a far better price. Still have to get genuine dust seals for the wheels and needle bearings for the swingarm.

Had at it this morning and hit an old problem with the rearsets. Frigging sidestand is going to be in the way of course. Mostly the spring.Ill have to figure something out there.

Bugger.

I was wearing my 'Trousers of Creativity' today and went back to the side panels I welded up a while ago.

First,I marked out the inside hole on a piece of 18mm multiplex and cut it out

Then I marked out and cut a piece of 8mm MDF a little bit smaller than the original hole (3mm + - gap all the way around. and mounted this to a heavy chunk of 40mm multiplex

I cut some steel mesh and laid it inbetween the 2 pieces and clamped it all down with heavy duty clamps

Gradually clamping it tight enough all the way around so there were no gaps between the 2 pieces of wood

Say 'Beer' 3 times, turn around, and then unclamp everything and

a nice little inlay for the side panels.
